#9 Florida Atlantic @ #5 San Diego State – 6:09PM ET

The ninth seeded Florida Atlantic Owls take on the third seeded San Diego State Aztecs in this Final Four NCAA Tournament matchup. The winner of this game will advance to the national championship game on Monday evening.

Tony Battalio

The Florida Atlantic Owls are still the Cinderella story of the tournament thus far. Debating on how you look at it, they may owe some luck to Fairleigh Dickinson’s upset of Purdue, because they got lucky and faced the 16 seed in the second round rather than Purdue, who was one of the best teams in the tournament. Despite all the criticisms, they then went on to upset Tennessee before taking down Kansas State in the elite eight to make it to the final four. Now with another victory, they will also reach their first national championship game in their program’s history. They are also currently playing in their first final four and set milestones along the way with their sweet 16 and elite eight appearances as well. Now it’ll be interesting to see if they have one more in them as they will face the toughest defense they have seen throughout the tournament.

The San Diego State Aztecs defense has been very stingy throughout the first four rounds of the tournament and that is the reason why they have an opportunity to make the national championship game. This is arguably a case of a team that was under seeded, and had a tough first round matchup against Charleston, but they have excelled and been better than the other teams they have faced along the way. I look for their defense to come up big for them once again, and this one, as I expect this game to be a lowest scoring and competitive game, which will be out of the norm for Florida Atlantic. That is why I have San Diego State, picking up the victory to advance to the national championship game.

#5 Miami @ #4 UConn  – 8:49PM ET

The fourth seeded UConn Huskies take on the fifth seeded Miami Hurricanes in this Final Four NCAA Tournament matchup. The winner of this game will advance to the national championship game on Monday evening.

Tony Battalio

The Connecticut Huskies have looked absolutely unstoppable throughout the first four rounds of the tournament as they have won each of their first four games by double digits. Now they will look to win the fifth game of the tournament and advance to the national championship game with a victory here on Saturday night against the Miami Hurricanes. This run by the UConn Huskies looks very similar to the 2014 run where they got hot at the right time and what I did up winning the national championship.

The Miami Hurricanes started off the season, very strong, but faltered Midway throughout the year during Atlantic Coast Conference play. However, in similar fashion, Miami has gotten hard at the correct time, and now they have an opportunity to advance to their first ever national championship game. They are the only school remaining out of the final four schools that have won a national championship in football, but they have never in won one in basketball. If Isaiah Wong can play well in this game in Miami has a legitimate shot to pick up the victory over the heavily favored huskies here on Saturday evening. That is exactly what I expect to happen as I am going with the Miami Hurricanes to pick up the victory.
