Saturday March 25th

#9 Florida Atlantic @ #3 Kansas State – 6:09PM ET

The ninth seeded Florida Atlantic Owls take on the third seeded Kansas State Wildcats in this Elite Eight NCAA Tournament matchup. The winner of this game will advance to the Final Four next weekend and move one step closer to winning the national championship.

The Florida Atlantic Owls just continue to win during this run and in their last game they took out the red hot Tennessee Volunteers. With every victory comes a new milestone for the program as they will now be appearing in their first ever elite eight and looking to make their first ever final four as well. They are definitely a case of a team that was severely under seated coming into the tournament and they have also gotten lucky with some upset as well, especially when they had to play Fairleigh Dickinson in the second round instead of the Purdue Boilermakers. However, with the way they have looked used to say that they wouldn’t have defeated Purdue as well.

Kansas State is a shocking team this year and nobody could’ve imagined them making it all the way to the elite eight. A lot of people had them positioned to finish at the bottom of the big 12 conference and not even get close to the NCAA tournament. However, they have persevered and played well throughout the tournament and now they have an opportunity to make the final four with another victory here in this game on Saturday evening. I look for this to be a really close and competitive game throughout the entirety of the 40 minutes but in the end, I’m taking Kansas State to end Florida Atlantics run.

#4 UConn @ #3 Gonzaga – 8:49PM ET

The fourth seeded UConn Huskies take on the third seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs in this Elite Eight NCAA Tournament matchup. The winner of this game will advance to the Final Four next weekend and move one step closer to winning the national championship.

The Connecticut Huskies have looked solid throughout the tournament and in their last game they blew the doors off of the Arkansas Razorbacks. This year’s UConn team is sort of reminiscent of the 2014 team that went on to win the national championship as a number eight seed. The only difference is that this year, they ranked a lot higher, but they were also an underdog going into that tournament as well. However, they will face the toughest task of the tournament and this one as they take on Drew Timme and the Gonzaga Bulldogs here on Saturday evening. But if you can continue to play the way that they have throughout the first three rounds of the tournament. They will likely find themselves in the final four next weekend.

It took a near miracle three pointer for the Gonzaga Bulldogs to find themselves in this elite eight game. They had the lead over the UCLA Bruins for the majority of the contest in the second half after finding themselves with a 15 point deficit in the first half. But within the final minute of the game, UCLA stormed back and took the lead before Gonzaga hit that beautiful three pointer to send them here. Now they will look to regroup and get a victory over Yukon to advance to the final four as they continue to chase that elusive national championship that would lift them from mid-major to perennial power in college basketball. I think Gonzaga will find a way to grind out another victory in this one and advance to the final four.
