The No. 1 seed Alabama Crimson Tide (30-5, 19-2 SEC) take on the No. 8 seed Maryland Terrapins (22-12, 12-10 Big 10) Saturday at Legacy Arena in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Maryland squeaked by the West Virginia Mountaineers 67-65 at Legacy Arena on Thursday in the First Round.
Julian Reese was a top performer with 17 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Alabama won their fourth in a row in dominant fashion in the First Round on Thursday at Legacy Arena, beating the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 96-75. Nick Pringle had 19 points and 15 rebounds, carrying the team.
The Crimson Tide won the last meeting between the teams 96-77 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in March 2021. Jaden Shackelford led the Crimson Tide with 21 points. Aaron Wiggins had 27 points and six rebounds in the loss.
The Terrapins have been led this season by Jahmir Young, who is averaging 15.9 points per game. Young also has dished 3.1 assists per game. Meanwhile, Reese is grabbing 7.1 rebounds.Brandon Miller’s 19.1 points per game have powered the Crimson Tide on offense.
