The Gonzaga Bulldogs (4-2), one of the NCAA’s top shooting teams, play host to the Xavier Musketeers (4-2) on Sunday.
Xavier was beaten by the Duke Blue Devils 71-64 at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter on Friday. Souley Boum had a standout performance in the losing effort with 23 points.
Gonzaga lost in blowout fashion on Friday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, falling to the Purdue Boilermakers 84-66. Drew Timme had 22 points and nine rebounds in defeat, leading the team.
The Bulldogs came out on top in the last meeting between the teams 83-59 at SAP Center at San Jose in March 2017.
The Musketeers have been led this season by Boum and Jack Nunge, who are averaging 16.8 and 14.8 points per game, respectively. Meanwhile, Zach Freemantle is grabbing 7.5 rebounds per game, and Colby Jones is dishing 4.7 assists.
Timme’s 20.7 points per game have powered the Bulldogs on offense. Julian Strawther is pulling down 8.3 rebounds per game, and Nolan Hickman is doling out 3.2 assists.
The Musketeers are shooting 50.9% from the field, ranking as one of the most accurate field goal shooting teams in the NCAA (19th).
