The No. 7 UCLA Bruins (15-2, 6-0 Pac-12), one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses, play host to the Colorado Buffaloes (11-7, 3-4 Pac-12) on Saturday. Colorado was beaten by the USC Trojans 68-61 at Galen Center on Thursday.
With 17 points, KJ Simpson was the scoring leader in the loss. Lawson Lovering was another standout performer with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Buffaloes remain seventh in the Pac-12 Conference.
UCLA won their 12th in a row in dominant fashion on Thursday at Pauley Pavilion, beating the Utah Runnin’ Utes 68-49. Tyger Campbell topped the scoresheet with 17 points. With 15 points and eight rebounds, Adem Bona also produced a strong performance.
The Bruins are first in the Pac-12 Conference. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. UCLA won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was a 71-65 triumph at CU Events Center in January 2022. Johnny Juzang led the Bruins with 23 points and six rebounds.
Jabari Walker had 19 points and seven rebounds in defeat. The Buffaloes have been led this season by Simpson and Tristan da Silva, who are averaging 16.8 and 14.9 points per game, respectively. Simpson also has dished 3.7 assists per game.
Meanwhile, J’Vonne Hadley is grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game.Jaime Jaquez Jr. has supplied much of the Bruins’ offense, averaging 16.4 points per game. Jaquez Jr. also has posted 6.7 rebounds per game.
Campbell has tallied 4.6 assists per game.The Bruins rank as one of the stingiest scoring defenses in the country, 17th-best with 60.1 points per game allowed.In the last 10 games, Colorado is 7-3 with an average margin of +10.0 (75.4-65.4).
UCLA has won each of the last 10 amid the team’s 12-game win streak, scoring 73.2 points per game on average while allowing 57.5 (+15.7 margin). The Bruins are averaging 77.2 ppg for the full season while allowing 60.1.
