The No. 10 Texas Longhorns (14-2, 3-1 Big 12), one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams, welcome the Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-6, 0-4 Big 12) on Saturday. Texas Tech was blown out by the Iowa State Cyclones 84-50 at James H. Hilton Coliseum on Tuesday, their fourth loss in a row.
With 14 points and five steals, De’Vion Harmon had a standout performance in the losing effort. The Red Raiders fell to 10th in the Big 12 Conference. Texas won on Wednesday at Moody Center, beating the TCU Horned Frogs 79-75. Timmy Allen had 17 points to top the scoresheet.
With 15 points and six rebounds, Sir’Jabari Rice also produced a strong performance. The Longhorns remain fourth in the Big 12 Conference. The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Texas Tech won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 61-55 triumph at Frank Erwin Special Events Center in February 2022.
Bryson Williams led the Red Raiders with 17 points. Andrew Jones had 20 points in the loss. Kevin Obanor is averaging 15.8 points per game to lead the Red Raiders in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Daniel Batcho is grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game, and Harmon is dishing 3.7 assists.
Marcus Carr’s 17.3 points per game have powered the Longhorns on offense. Carr also has doled out 4.3 assists per game. Allen has pulled down 5.7 rebounds per game. The Longhorns are one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, ranking 18th with 82.1 points per game.
Texas Tech is 6-4 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +11.3 (80.3-69.0). For the season, the Red Raiders are averaging 76.6 points per game, compared to 65.1 for opponents.
