The No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks (25-5, 13-4 Big 12) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams when they are on the road to face the No. 9 Texas Longhorns (22-7, 11-5 Big 12) on Saturday.
Kansas beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders 67-63 at Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday, their seventh consecutive win. Jalen Wilson was the standout player with 21 points. The Jayhawks remain first in the Big 12 Conference.
Texas dropped their last game on Saturday at Ferrell Center, falling to the Baylor Bears 81-72. Dylan Disu had 24 points in defeat, leading the team. The Longhorns remain second in the Big 12 Conference. It’s the final meeting of the season between the teams.
Kansas will be aiming for a season sweep against Texas after triumphing in the only prior meeting 88-80 at Allen Fieldhouse on February 6.
Gradey Dick led the Jayhawks with 21 points. Marcus Carr had 29 points in the losing effort. Wilson is averaging 19.6 points per game to lead the Jayhawks in scoring this season. Wilson also has grabbed 8.3 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Dajuan Harris Jr. is dishing 6.2 assists.Carr’s 16.8 points per game have powered the Longhorns on offense. Carr also has distributed 4.1 assists per game. Timmy Allen has averaged 5.6 rebounds per game.
The Longhorns rank as one of the top scoring offenses in the country, 27th-best with 79.2 points per game. In the last 10 games, Kansas is 9-1 with an average margin of +7.5 (76.6-69.1).
Texas has gone 6-4 over the last 10, scoring 77.5 points per game on average while allowing 73.4 (+4.1 margin). The Longhorns are averaging 79.2 ppg for the full season while allowing 68.8.
