The No. 2 Gonzaga Bulldogs (2-0) are on the road to face the No. 11 Texas Longhorns (2-0) Wednesday at Moody Center.Gonzaga squeaked by the Michigan State Spartans 64-63 at USS Abraham Lincoln on Friday.
With 22 points and 13 rebounds, Drew Timme had a standout performance. Texas won in impressive fashion on Thursday at Moody Center, beating the Houston Christian Huskies 82-31. Sir’Jabari Rice and Marcus Carr recorded 11 points each to top the scoresheet.
With 10 points and 12 reboun ds, Dillon Mitchell also produced a strong performance. The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Gonzaga earned the win in the only game between the teams last season 86-74 at McCarthey Athletic Center in November 2021.
Timme led the Bulldogs with 37 points and seven rebounds. Timmy Allen had 18 points in defeat. The Bulldogs have been led so far this season by Timme, who is averaging 22.0 points per game. Timme also is contributing 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
Tyrese Hunter and Rice have powered the Longhorns’ offense, averaging 14.0 and 12.5 points per game, respectively. Mitchell is posting 8.0 rebounds per game, and Carr is doling out 4.0 assists.
