The No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones (11-2, 2-0 Big 12) are on the road to face the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs (13-1, 2-0 Big 12) Saturday in a game that may see lower point totals. Iowa State edged past the Oklahoma Sooners 63-60 at Lloyd Noble Center on Wednesday, their fourth straight win. Caleb Grill led the way with 20 points.
The Cyclones dropped to second in the Big 12 Conference. TCU won their 11th in a row in a close one on Wednesday at Ferrell Center, beating the Baylor Bears 88-87. Mike Miles Jr. had 33 points, carrying the team. The Horned Frogs are first in the Big 12 Conference. This marks the only meeting of the season between the teams. Iowa State and TCU split their matchups last season, winning one game apiece.
The Cyclones won the last meeting 54-51 at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena in February 2022. Izaiah Brockington led the Cyclones with 20 points and seven rebounds. Eddie Lampkin Jr. had 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
Jaren Holmes is averaging 13.2 points per game to lead the Cyclones in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Aljaz Kunc is grabbing 5.0 rebounds per game, and Tamin Lipsey is dishing 4.6 assists.Miles Jr. (15.6 ppg) has supplied much of the Horned Frogs’ offense.
