The Michigan State Spartans (4-2) welcome the Portland Pilots (5-3) Sunday at Earle A. Chiles Center.
Portland defeated the Villanova Wildcats 83-71 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday. Moses Wood led the way with 16 points and three blocks.
Michigan State triumphed on Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, beating the Oregon Ducks 74-70. Joey Hauser had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team.
The Spartans got the win in the last meeting between the teams 82-67 at Jack Breslin Student Events Center in November 2013.
The Pilots have been led this season by Tyler Robertson and Wood, who are averaging 16.6 and 15.1 points per game, respectively. Wood also has grabbed 6.7 rebounds per game, while Robertson has dished 5.1 assists per game.
Tyson Walker (15.5 ppg) and Hauser (13.8) have powered the Spartans’ offense. Hauser also has posted 6.5 rebounds per game. A.J. Hoggard has distributed 6.2 assists per game.
