The No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones (10-2, 1-0 Big 12) will try to slow down one of the country’s top shooting teams when they travel to face the Oklahoma Sooners (9-4, 0-1 Big 12) on Wednesday.Iowa State beat the Baylor Bears 77-62 at James H. Hilton Coliseum on Saturday, their third win in a row.
Gabe Kalscheur led the way with 23 points. Oklahoma dropped a close one on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center, falling to the Texas Longhorns 70-69. Grant Sherfield had 22 points in defeat, carrying the team. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Iowa State and Oklahoma split their matchups last season, each team winning one.
The Cyclones earned the win in the last meeting 75-54 at James H. Hilton Coliseum in February 2022. Izaiah Brockington led the Cyclones with 22 points. Jalen Hill had 15 points in the losing effort. The Cyclones have been led this season by Jaren Holmes, who is averaging 13.5 points per game.
Meanwhile, Aljaz Kunc is grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game, and Tamin Lipsey is dishing 4.7 assists. Sherfield (18.3 ppg) has been the primary provider of the Sooners’ offense. Sherfield also has doled out 3.8 assists per game. Tanner Groves has pulled down 6.9 rebounds per game. The Sooners are one of the NCAA’s most accurate teams from the field, ranking ninth at 50.3%.
