The No. 20 Michigan State Spartans (5-2) head to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-1), who will be looking to extend their winning run at home, on Wednesday. Michigan State squeaked by the Portland Pilots 78-77 at Earle A. Chiles Center on Sunday. With 16 points, Tyson Walker was the scoring leader. Pierre Brooks was another key contributor with 15 points.
Notre Dame lost on Friday at UBS Arena, falling to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 63-51. Nate Laszewski recorded 11 points to lead the team in scoring in the losing effort. With 10 points and 13 rebounds, Ven-Allen Lubin also played a part. The Spartans won the last meeting between the teams 80-70 at Jack Breslin Student Events Center in November 2020.
Aaron Henry led the Spartans with 14 points, while Gabe Brown contributed 9 points and five steals. Prentiss Hubb had 23 points in the losing effort. Walker and Joey Hauser, averaging 15.6 and 13.9 points per game, respectively, have led the Spartans in scoring this season.
Hauser also has grabbed 6.6 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, A.J. Hoggard is dishing 6.6 assists per game. Laszewski (18.2 ppg) has supplied much of the Fighting Irish’s offense. Laszewski also has posted 8.7 rebounds per game. Trey Wertz has doled out 4.3 assists per game.
