The No. 11 Auburn Tigers (8-0), one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses, play host to the Memphis Tigers (7-2) on Saturday. Memphis topped the Little Rock Trojans 87-71 at FedExForum on Tuesday, their fifth consecutive win. With 17 points and five assists, DeAndre Williams had a standout performance.
Auburn won their eighth in a row in dominating fashion on December 2 at Neville Arena, beating the Colgate Raiders 93-66. K.D. Johnson had 16 points to top the scoresheet. With 12 points and seven rebounds, Allen Flanigan also produced a strong performance.
Auburn took the last meeting between the teams 74-71 at State Farm Arena in December 2020. Justin Powell led Auburn with 26 points and eight rebounds. D.J. Jeffries had 16 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort.
Memphis have been led this season by Kendric Davis, who is averaging 17.4 points per game. Davis also has dished 4.8 assists per game. Meanwhile, Williams is grabbing 7.3 rebounds. Wendell Green Jr.’s 13.4 points per game have powered Auburn on offense.
Green Jr. also has doled out 3.8 assists per game. Johni Broome has posted 7.6 rebounds per game. Auburn is one of the best scoring defenses in the NCAA, ranking 17th with 58.0 points per game allowed.
