The No. 16 UCLA Bruins (8-2, 2-0 Pac-12), one of the nation’s top shooting teams, head to face the No. 20 Maryland Terrapins (8-2, 1-1 Big 10) on Wednesday. UCLA dominated the Denver Pioneers 87-64 at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday, their fifth win in a row. Jaylen Clark was the standout player with 24 points.
Maryland lost a close one on Sunday at Barclays Center, falling to the Tennessee Volunteers 56-53. Jahmir Young had 18 points and seven assists in the losing effort, carrying the team. The Bruins have been led this season by Jaime Jaquez Jr., who is averaging 17.4 points per game. Meanwhile, Clark is grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game, and Tyger Campbell is dishing 4.6 assists.
Young (15.6 ppg) and Donta Scott (14.1) have supplied much of the Terrapins’ offense. Young also has doled out 3.4 assists per game. Julian Reese has averaged 7.6 rebounds per game.The Bruins are shooting 49.9% from the field, ranking as one of the country’s most accurate field goal shooting teams (16th).
