Offense meets defense when the Yale Bulldogs (8-2) travel to face the No. 16 Kentucky Wildcats (6-2) on Saturday. Yale was beaten by the Butler Bulldogs 71-61 at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Tuesday. EJ Jarvis had a standout performance in the loss with 14 points.
Kentucky won their third in a row on Sunday at The O2 Arena, beating the Michigan Wolverines 73-69. Cason Wallace had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead the team. Matt Knowling is averaging 16.2 points per game to lead the Bulldogs in scoring this season.
Knowling also has grabbed 4.7 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Bez Mbeng is dishing 3.5 assists. Antonio Reeves and Jacob Toppin have supplied much of the Wildcats’ offense, averaging 14.4 and 12.9 points per game, respectively.
Oscar Tshiebwe is averaging 10.1 rebounds per game, and Sahvir Wheeler is doling out 6.4 assists. The Bulldogs rank 21st in the nation in offensive efficiency, while the Wildcats are 29th in defensive efficiency. In the last 10 games, Yale is 8-2 with an average margin of +22.5 (78.3-55.8).
