The North Florida Ospreys (1-2) are on the road to face the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats (3-2), who will be out to extend their winning run at home, on Wednesday. North Florida beat the South Carolina State Bulldogs 72-66 at UNF Arena on Saturday. Jose Placer was the scoring leader with 18 points.
Jarius Hicklen added 11 points. Kentucky fell short on Sunday at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, falling to the Gonzaga Bulldogs 88-72. Oscar Tshiebwe had 20 points and 15 rebounds in defeat to lead the team. The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Kentucky came out on top in the only matchup between the teams last season 86-52 at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center in November 2021.
TyTy Washington Jr. and Dontaie Allen led the Wildcats with 14 points apiece, while Sahvir Wheeler contributed 12 points and 14 assists. Jadyn Parker had 10 points in the loss. The Ospreys have been led early this season by Carter Hendricksen, who is averaging 14.7 points per game.
Hendricksen also has grabbed 8.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Hicklen is dishing 4.3 assists. Antonio Reeves (13.2 ppg), Cason Wallace (12.6), and CJ Fredrick (11.8) have been the primary providers of the Wildcats’ offense. Tshiebwe is collecting 8.0 rebounds per game, and Wheeler is recording 6.6 assists.
