The Michigan Wolverines (5-2) will try to overcome one of the country’s top shooting defenses when they welcome the No. 19 Kentucky Wildcats (5-2) on Sunday. Kentucky dominated the Bellarmine Knights 60-41 at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center on Tuesday. Antonio Reeves led the way with 18 points.
Michigan dropped a close one on Tuesday at Crisler Center, falling to the Virginia Cavaliers 70-68. Hunter Dickinson had 23 points and five blocks in the loss, carrying the team. The Wildcats took the last meeting between the teams 75-72 at Lucas Oil Stadium in March 2014.
Reeves and Jacob Toppin, averaging 14.9 and 12.7 points per game, respectively, have led the Wildcats in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Oscar Tshiebwe is grabbing 9.6 rebounds per game, and Sahvir Wheeler is dishing 6.3 assists.
Dickinson’s 19.1 points per game have powered the Wolverines on offense. Dickinson also has collected 9.1 rebounds per game. Kobe Bufkin has recorded 2.9 assists per game. The Wildcats rank as one of the stingiest FG% defenses in the nation, holding foes to to a 29th-lowest rate of 37.3%.
