The Bellarmine Knights (2-4) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams when they head to face the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats (4-2) on Tuesday. Bellarmine was blown out by the Loyola Marymount Lions 80-59 at Albert Gersten Pavilion on Friday, their third loss in a row.
Garrett Tipton led the way in defeat with 12 points. Kentucky won their fourth straight home game in dominant fashion on Wednesday at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center, beating the North Florida Ospreys 96-56. Jacob Toppin and Antonio Reeves led the team in scoring with 20 points each.
With 16 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists, Oscar Tshiebwe also produced a strong performance. The Knights have been led this season by Peter Suder, who is averaging 12.5 points per game. Meanwhile, Juston Betz is contributing 5.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Reeves and Toppin have been the primary providers for the Wildcats on offense, averaging 14.3 and 12.8 points per game, respectively. Tshiebwe is pulling down 9.2 rebounds per game, and Sahvir Wheeler is doling out 6.3 assists. The Wildcats are averaging 87.2 points per game, ranking as one of the most explosive offenses in the country (13th).
