The No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide (7-1), one of the nation’s top scoring teams, are on the road to face the No. 1 Houston Cougars (9-0) on Saturday. Alabama beat the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 78-65 at Coleman Coliseum on Saturday. Noah Clowney was the top scorer with 22 points.
Mark Sears chipped in with 19 points. Houston won their ninth in a row in dominant fashion on Tuesday at Fertitta Center, beating the North Florida Ospreys 76-42. Ja’Vier Francis topped the scoresheet with 14 points. With 12 points and 10 rebounds, Jarace Walker also played a part.
It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Alabama took the only matchup between the teams last season 83-82 at Coleman Coliseum in December 2021. Marcus Sasser topped all players in scoring with 25 points in defeat.
Juwan Gary had 19 points for the Crimson Tide, while Jahvon Quinerly contributed 17 points and eight assists. The Crimson Tide have been led this season by Brandon Miller, who is averaging 19.1 points per game.
Miller also has grabbed 8.9 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Sears is dishing 3.5 assists.Sasser (16.9 ppg) has been the primary provider for the Cougars on offense. Walker is pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game, and Jamal Shead is tallying 6.2 assists. The Crimson Tide rank as one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation, 19th-best with 83.5 points per game.
