Texas A&M @ #25 Alabama – 7pm ET

This SEC conference matchup could be huge when it comes to selection Sunday. As Texas A&M and Alabama both find themselves on the bubble. Both teams will be looking to pick up every win possible with the NCAA tournament fast approaching.

Marko Nadin

The Alabama Crimson Tide are fifth in the SEC with a 19-10 record. They have won 5 of the last 6 games losing only to Kentucky in that span. Alabama is coming off a 90-71 win over South Carolina and will play LSU after Texas A&M in their last game of the regular season. Alabama is 13-2 at home this season and is going in as 9.5 favorites against the Aggies. Alabama has covered the spread only twice in their last 12 home games and only once in the last 8 games following a win.

Texas A&M is 10th in the SEC with an 18-11 record. They were on an eight-game losing streak before winning 3 of the last 4 games. The Aggies are coming off a 76-66 win over Ole Miss. Texas A&M has won the last three games against Alabama, most recently 74-68 in February 2020. They have won 7 of the last 10 games against teams with a winning record over 60% and 5 of the last 7 games against those teams. The Aggies played especially good on Wednesdays as they have won 5 of the last 6.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Texas A&M +9.5 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The Texas A&M Aggies come into this game looking to pick up an upset win over a nationally ranked team for the first time this season. Their current 18-11 record is not good enough to get into the NCAA tournament but with a win over Alabama their chances could jump up in a big way. They would also need to win their finale against Mississippi State and maybe a couple wins in the SEC tournament would be enough to secure the Aggies spot in the big dance. Texas A&M is currently on a two game win streak after beating Georgia and Ole Miss in their last two contests.

The Alabama Crimson Tide started off the season hot. Right now they come into this game with a record of 19-10 on the year. As their NCAA tournament hopes are in jeopardy if they continue to lose games. While they do hold wins over Houston and Gonzaga it may not be enough to put them over the top if they lose in the first or second round of the SEC tournament. Alabama is currently on a two game winning streak and have won four of their last five games on the year. As for the result of this game I have the Crimson Tide getting the win in this game over Texas A&M.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Alabama (-490)

Noah Dunlap

This is a matchup between two teams who have had disappointing seasons, given the expectations. Texas A&M didn’t have quite the expectations that Alabama did coming into the season, but after a tremendous start to the year, they got people talking about whether they could be end up being a sleeper in SEC play. Well, as we near the end of the regular season, it’s become obvious that the non-conference play was a fluke, built around an extremely favorable schedule, as the Aggies haven’t been able to get anything going.

Now they take on an Alabama team that’s hard to figure out, as they have a few big time wins on the year, showing they can get the job done, but a few inexcusable losses as well have shown massive amounts of inconsistency from the Tide this season. With them trying to hang on to a tournament spot through the last week of the season, I think we’re going to see the Bama team that has wins over Houston and Gonzaga, one that can compete with anyone in the country. Give me the Tide at home, with ease, over a Texas A&M squad that has been largely horrible since conference play began.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Alabama (-490)

#18 UConn @ Creighton – 8:30pm ET

The 18th ranked UConn Huskies travel to play the Creighton Blue Jays in this one. Both teams could really use a big momentum grabbing win with the Big East conference tournament and selection Sunday looming.

Marko Nadin

The Creighton Bluejays are 4th in the Big East with a 19-9 record including 10-3 at home. Their six-game winning streak was snapped in the last round when they lost 72-51 against Providence. The Bluejays are going into the final two games of the regular season short handed as Ryan Nembhard, Devin Davis and Shereef Mitchell are injured. Creighton has won the last four games against UConn, most recently 69-55 a month ago. They have won 11 of the last 16 games against teams with a winning road record.

The UConn Huskies are third in the Big East with a 21-7 record. They have won the last 5 games and are coming off a 86-77 win over Georgetown. The Huskies are ranked ninth in the league with 37.4 rebounds per game. They are going into the game against Creighton as 4 points favorites. UConn has covered the spread only twice in the last 8 games against teams with a winning record over 60%, and in none of the last 4 games against teams with a home record over 60%.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Creighton (+152)

Tony Battalio

The UConn Huskies are a potential sleeper team in this year’s NCAA tournament. However, they will have to get there first and in my opinion they are still a few wins away from getting a promised spot in the NCAA Tournament. They come into this game with a record of 21-7 on the season. They are ranked 18th in the country at the moment. They have a conference record of 12-5 which has them in third place in the Big East at the moment. With a win over the Blue Jays in this game they will officially clinch the third seed in the Big East conference tournament.

The Creighton Blue Jays are coming into this game one game behind the UConn Huskies in fourth place of the Big East. They would likely jump the Huskies with a victory and secure a top four seed in the Big East conference tournament. They already hold a victory over the Huskies from earlier this season when they beat them on the road, now they will be looking to complete the sweep at home to open up the month of March. As for the result of this game I have the Blue Jays getting the win over UConn at home.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Creighton (+152)

Noah Dunlap

This isn’t the Doug McDermott Creighton Blue Jays team that we got used to seeing6-7 years ago. That isn’t to say that this year’s version is bad, as they sit at 19-9, but they just haven’t had the same level success as they have in past years. They’re currently sitting on the bubble, as we enter the last week of the season, but I don’t think they’re going to have enough to get over the edge, unless they were to dominate their last two, including this one against UConn.

The Huskies come in as a sure fire tournament team, sitting at 18th in the country right now, with a 21-7 record. However, with the good record, this is a UConn team that’s hard to figure out, as they have a few big wins on the year, including an early season victory over Auburn, which have helped their resume even more, but they did go through a cold stretch through the middle of the year where they couldn’t be any quality opponents. While they’re playing much better lately, that rough span showed that they can be inconsistent, which makes me a bit nervous as we enter March. For this matchup, though, I’m going to take the Huskies to be able to go on the road and sneak away with a tight win, as in the end I think they’re just the more talented team.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: UConn (-184)

#5 Auburn @ Mississippi State – 9pm ET

This South Eastern Conference matchup is going to be huge for both teams. As the Auburn Tigers travel to Mississippi to play the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Both teams will need a victory for their NCAA Tournament resumes.

Marko Nadin

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 8th in the SEC with a 17-12 record including 14-2 at home. They have won 3 of the last 4 games after going through a four-game losing streak. The Bulldogs are coming off a 74-69 win over Vanderbilt. They have covered the spread in 6 of the last 9 home games and in 15 of the last 21 games coming off against the spread loss. Mississippi State has played over the total point margin in 7 of the last 9 games. They defeated Auburn the last time back in 2019.

The Auburn Tigers are on top of the SEC with a 25-4 record. They won 21 of the first 22 games of the season and have lost 3 of the last 6 games, The Tigers are coming off a 67-62 loss over the Tennessee Volunteers. Auburn has won the last 3 and 7 of the last 10 games against the Bulldogs. They are going into this game as 3 points favorites and have not covered the spread in the last 5 road games. Also, they have covered the spread only once in their last 5 games against teams with a winning record.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Auburn (-152)

Tony Battalio

The Auburn Tigers will be looking to bounce back from their upset loss to the Tennessee Volunteers in their last game. Despite the loss they still come into this game ranked inside of the top five in the country. Auburn is 25-4 on the season and already in the NCAA tournament, the only thing left to determine is what seed they will get. If they finish out the regular season with wins and win a couple of games in the SEC conference tournament they could end up with one of the four number one seeds, and potentially even the top overall number one seed.

Mississippi State is currently 17-12 on the season and barely sitting on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament at the moment. A huge upset win over the Auburn Tigers in this one would greatly improve their chances, however, they would still need a few wins in the SEC conference tournament as well. The Bulldogs, however, are greatly overmatched in this one and that is why I have Auburn getting the victory on the road in this game.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Auburn (-152)

Noah Dunlap

This one gets out of hand, quite possibly in a hurry. After spending much of the year as the number one team in the country, the Auburn Tigers have slipped just a bit, having lost multiple times in the past two weeks, and as we enter the month of March, I think they’re going to be looking for the kind of game they can take over and dominate, in order to get back on track. That’s precisely what this matchup against Mississippi State provides.

The Bulldogs, on the other hand, are mediocre at best, sitting at 17-12, and there’s some grumbling around Starkville that head coach Ben Howland may be on his way out the door. While there’s been a decent recruiting job done by Howland, the feeling is that he just hasn’t been able to get enough out of these recruits, which is where the unhappiness is coming from. That’s doesn’t bode well for them, as the welcome in a team that’s is among the most talented in the country, including having a guy that may be the number one pick in the draft in Jabari Smith Jr. The Tigers walk into Starkville in this one and get an easy win, as they start looking towards the conference and NCAA tournaments.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Auburn (-152)

LSU @ #14 Arkansas – 9pm ET

The second featured SEC game of the evening will be just as important as the first one. As the LSU Tigers travel to Arkansas to play the Razorbacks. Both teams come into this one needing a resume building win as well.

Marko Nadin

The Arkansas Razorbacks are fourth in the SEC with a 23-6 record including 16-1 at home. Arkansas has lost only one game in the last 14 against the Alabama Crimson Tide. They have won the last four games, most recently 75-73 against Kentucky. Arkansas has won 3 of the last 5 games against LSU. Arkansas has won the last 5 home games against teams with a losing record and 7 of the last 8 games played on Wednesday. They have played over the total points margin in 7 of the last 10 games overall.

The LSU Tigers are eighth in the SEC with a 20-9 record. They started the season with 14 wins in the first 15 games but now their postseason appearance is still questionable. LSU has won 4 of the last 6 games and is coming off a 75-55 win over Missouri. The Tigers have covered the spread only twice in the last 7 games against a team with a winning home record and only once in the last 5 games following a win. Just like Arkansas, LSU has played over the total points margin in 7 of the last 10 games overall

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Arkansas (-245)

Tony Battalio

The LSU Tigers are hitting the road for this huge game against a top 25 team, the Arkansas Razorbacks. LSU faces a must win situation practically as they come into this game sitting on the bubble with a record of 20-9, most years that would be more than enough to get into the NCAA tournament. However, the field is absolutely loaded this season and the Tigers are still lacking one more big win. They currently hold a win over Tennessee and Kentucky, but they would love to add a victory over the Razorbacks as well. They are currently the middle of the pack in the SEC with an 8-8 record inside of conference play.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are coming into this game ranked 14th in the nation at the moment. They are still riding high after their huge win over the Kentucky Wildcats last Saturday afternoon. They are currently on a four game winning streak and will be looking to add number five to that total and open up the month of March with a victory. They are 23-6 on the year and in the running for a potential number one seed in the NCAA tournament but for that to happen they can’t afford to slip up and lose and may have to win the SEC conference tournament as well. As for the result of this game I have Arkansas getting the win over LSU.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Arkansas (-245)

Noah Dunlap

The LSU Tigers come into this one in a similar state as Texas A&M. They played a virtually flawless non-conference schedule, and rose as high as number 12 in the polls, before conference play began and they hit a bit of a wall. To their credit though, they have managed to stay aloat at least, with a 20-9 record, which has kept them in the hunt for a tournament bid, and it’s one that I do think they end up getting. Now they travel north to Fayetteville to take on an Arkansas team that has been really impressive for virtually the entire season.

The Razorbacks enter at 14th in the latest polls, and a 23-6 record. They’re one of the best teams in the SEC, and coming off a big time win over Kentucky this weekend, they should have all the momentum in the world coming into this one. Under head coach Eric Musselman, they’re sure to play physical, energetic basketball, especially on the defensive end, which is a big reason for their success. As for this one, I think the physicality proves to be the difference, as I the Hogs roll at home. Give me Arkansas with relative ease, as they try to improve their seeding for the tournament in a few weeks.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Arkansas (-245)
