#4 Purdue @ Minnesota – 7pm ET

The Purdue Boilermakers head north to Minneapolis to play the Minnesota Golden Gophers in this one. The Boilermakers come into this game ranked fourth in the nation, while Minnesota comes in unranked. Purdue will be looking to rack up another win, while Minnesota is looking for a big resume worthy victory at home.

Marko Nadin

The Purdue Boilermakers will chase their fourth consecutive win when they visit Minnesota. Purdue is fourth in the Big Ten with a 18-3 record. They are among the top offensive teams in the country as they rank third in field goal percentage with 50.5% and in three-point percentage with 41.2%. The Boilermakers are also fourth in the country with 84.5 points per game. On average, Purdue scores 16 points more than their opponents and the spread against Minnesota is set at 10.5.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 12th in the Big Ten with a 11-7 record. They started the season winning 10 of the first 11 games but have dropped 6 of the last 7. Minnesota is 0-4 in the last four home games against a team with a winning record and are 1-6-1 against the spread in the last 8 games. Minnesota will have a problem rebounding against Purdue who are second in the country allowing only 25 rebounds per game to their opponents.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Purdue (-610)

Tony Battalio

The Purdue Boilermakers survived an upset attempt from the Ohio State Buckeyes in their last game. The victory at home over the Buckeyes extended the Boilermakers winning streak to three games along with additional wins over Iowa and Northwestern. The win brought Purdue’s record on the season to 18-3 as they come into this one ranked fourth in the nation. It was also their fourth win in their last five games. They are currently 7-3 in the Big Ten conference which good enough for fourth place.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming into this game with a record of 11-7. They put together a great non conference schedule and went 9-0. But their downfall has been Big Ten conference play as they are 2-7 inside of the conference. The Golden Gophers have yet to get a resume defining win and they have a huge shot in this one as they host the Boilermakers. Minnesota is currently on a two game losing streak as well. As for the result of this game, I have the Boilermakers extending Minnesota’s losing streak to three games and picking up an easy win on the road in the process.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Purdue (-610)

Noah Dunlap

Purdue has been one of the best, most consistent teams in the country to this point in the season, as they come into this one at 18-3, even though all three losses have come in conference play for the Boilermakers. They looked dominant throughout non-conference play, ending up ranked number one at one point, but have struggled through Big Ten play. Despite a few of these struggles though, they take on a Minnesota team in this one that they should be able to take care of with ease, as the Golden Gophers simply don’t have enough to hang around with what they’re about to face. Much like their opponents in this one, they ran through non-conference play undefeated at 9-0, but have gone into free fall in Big Ten play, as they’re 2-7 and have come apart at the seams. All of this leads me to think this ends up being an easy win for Purdue, even having to go on the road for this one.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Purdue (-610)

Vanderbilt @ #5 Kentucky – 7pm ET

Vanderbilt is looking to knock off a red hot Kentucky Wildcats team in Lexington. Meanwhile Kentucky will be looking to avoid a let down after blowing out a tough Kansas team on the road last Saturday evening. Vandy comes into this one 11-9 while Kentucky is 17-4.

Marko Nadin

The Kentucky Wildcats are second in SEC with a 17-4 record including 13-0 at home. They are coming off a blowout 80-62 win over the Kansas Jayhawks. The Wildcats are 7-6 against the spread at home. They are eighth in the nation with 82.1 points per game and fourth in field goal percentage with 49.7%. Kentucky is a great defensive team allowing only 26 rebounds per game to their opponents which ranks them sixth. Kentucky is 44-21 in under at home against a team with a winning record. Kentucky won 78-66 in their last game against Vanderbilt.

The Commodores snapped a three-game losing streak with a 85-77 win over Georgia. Vanderbilt that is coached by the former NBA All-Star Jerry Stackhouse, is not among the 250 teams in any offensive category. Luckily they are quite good defensively allowing 64.7 points per game and only 29.8% from the three point line. The Commodores have played under the point margin in any of the last four games against a team with at least .600 winning percentage.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Kentucky (-2100)

Tony Battalio

Vanderbilt enters this game with a record of 11-9 on the season. They will face their toughest test of the season in this one, at least in my opinion as they travel to Lexington to play the red hot Kentucky Wildcats. Vanderbilt is currently 3-5 inside of conference play, as they have failed to generate any type of momentum. They are currently on a one game winning streak after beating the Georgia Bulldogs at home a few days ago. Vandy will be looking to pick up a huge win in this game, but they will need to play a near perfect game for that to happen.

The Kentucky Wildcats are red hot after blowing out Kansas in the Fieldhouse last Saturday evening. The win catapulted Kentucky all the way up into the top five of the county as they currently sit in the number five spot. Kentucky now comes into this game with a record of 17-4. Along with a. 6-2 record inside of the SEC. The Wildcats are also on a two game winning streak that they will be looking to extend as well. As for the result of this game that is exactly what I expect as I have the Wildcats beating Vanderbilt in this one at home.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Kentucky (-2100)

Noah Dunlap

Quite bluntly, this Vanderbilt team isn’t very good. They’re hanging around just above .500 right now at 11-9, but that’s with a favorable schedule, and yet they still can’t get anything going. Adding to that, they’re 3-5 in SEC play, and this trip to Lexington is far and away their toughest test of the year, at least to this point.

Kentucky, on the other hand, sits at 17-4, and is slowly beginning to resemble one of the best teams in the country. They sit at number five currently, after a huge win this weekend in Lawrence, where they took down Kansas in convincing fashion, and now they host an overmatched Commodore team that they should take care of with ease. I like Oscar Tshiebwe and TyTy Washington to lead the way for the Wildcats, as they cruise in this one at Rupp.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Kentucky (-2100)

Butler @ #21 Xavier – 7pm ET

This Big East matchup could get ugly depending on which Xavier team decides to show up on Tuesday. Butler is having a rough season and come into this game 11-10, meanwhile Xavier is 15-5 but they are ranked inside of the top 25 of the nation.

Marko Nadin

The Xavier Musketeers have snapped a two-game losing streak with a 74-64 win over Creighton in the last round. They are 10-2 at home and 15-5 overall which puts them fifth in the Big East.Xavier is scoring 73.9 points per game which is 11 more than Butler. Xavier allows only 40% from the field which ranks them at No. 50. The last four Xavier’s games after a win have finished under and they haven’t covered the spread in the last five games following a win.

The Butler Bulldogs are only 11-10 this season which puts them seventh in the Big East. The Bulldogs are 3-2 on the road and only 6-13 against the spread. Butler is not ranked among the top 300 teams in any offensive category. They score only 62.5 points per game and allow two more. Xavier won 87-72 against Butler earlier this month and the same outcome is expected in this game as well.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Xavier (-900)

Tony Battalio

The Butler Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 11-10 on the season. They have failed to establish any type of momentum as they continue to barely float above the .500 mark so far this season. Butler is desperate for a resume building victory in this one but they will have to play some near perfect basketball to earn a win on the road in Ohio in this one. Butler is currently on a two game winning streak and with a record of 4-6 inside of the Big East Conference. They will be looking to extend their win streak to three with a victory in this one.

The Xavier Musketeers come into this game with a record of 15-5 on the year. They are currently ranked 21st in the country. They come into this one with an average 5-4 record inside of the Big East conference as well. They will need a big morale boosting win to get things back on track as they’ve struggled heavily inside of the conference. They have lost two of their last three games to Providence and Marquette. The first time Xavier met Butler it was the Musketeers who came out on top by a score of 87-72. As for the result of this game, I expect more of the same as I have Xavier coming out on top again.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Xavier (-900)

Noah Dunlap

This isn’t Gordon Hayward’s Butler team from a decade ago, and that’s plain to see, as the Bulldogs are having all sorts of issues this year. They enter this one at 11-10, and while that is good enough to be just above .500, they’re yet to get any real resume boosting wins on the year, as their best win is an OT victory over a decent, but not great, Oklahoma team. Against every other quality team they’ve faced they’ve come up short, including a 40-point loss to Villanova a few weeks ago.

Xavier comes into this one as a bit of a mystery. They have a good 15-5 record, but they’re only 5-4 in conference play, and much like Butler, they’ve struggled a bit against teams that would be considered to be above average to good at least. The Musketeers come into this one having lost their last two, and will certainly be looking to get back on track against a mediocre Butler squad. With the fact that they took care of this Bulldog team in their first meeting this season, I’m going to take Xavier by a similar margin in this one, as well.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Xavier (-900)

#11 Wisconsin @ #18 Illinois – 9pm ET

The 11th ranked Wisconsin Badgers head to Champagne to play the 18th ranked Fighting Illini in this one. This game is sure to be the best matchup of the evening as these two top teams in the Big Ten conference face off against each other for sole possession of first place in the conference.

Marko Nadin

The Illinois Fighting Illini are second in the the Big 10 with a 15-5 record including 9-2 at home. They have won the last two games against Michigan State and Northwestern with a total differential of 4 points. Illinois is a pretty good offensive team scoring 77.2 points per game on 45.8% from the field. They allow 11 points less per game and are 12th team in the nation with over 37 rebounds per game. The Fighting Illini are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games. Guard Andre Curbelo, who is averaging more than 10 points per game this season, will not suit up against Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Badgers are on top of the Big 10 with a 17-3 record. They are 2-3 on the road and have won 7 of 8 games in 2022. Wisconsin records 72.4 points per game, 7 more than they allow. Seven of the last 8 Wisconsin games have gone over the total point margin. They are 6-1 against the spread against teams with a home winning percentage or overall winning percentage of over .600. Illinois has won the last three against Wisconsin but the Badgers have won the previous seven games.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Wisconsin (+225)

Tony Battalio

The Wisconsin Badgers are coming into this game with a record of 17-3 on the season. They are currently ranked 11th in the nation. Wisconsin is currently on a two game winning streak and have won four of their last five on the season. They will be looking to add a huge resume building win in this game against the Fighting Illini. Wisconsin is currently in first place of the Big Ten despite the loss to Michigan State in one of their recent games this season. They are 7-2 inside of conference play and tied for first with their opponents in this one.

fanduel sign up bonus

The previously mentioned Illinois Fighting Illini come into this game with a record of 15-5 on the season. As also previously mentioned they are tied atop the Big Ten with Wisconsin as they have identical records of 7-2 on the year. Illinois is currently on a two game winning streak just like Wisconsin at the moment, as this game is starting to feel like a mirror match in some areas. Both teams could really use the victory for their tournament resumes and seeding purposes in the Big Ten conference tournament when it comes around. As for the result of this one I have the Badgers picking up the victory on the road over Illinois.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Wisconsin (+225)

Noah Dunlap

This is far and away the best matchup of the night, and if we get good performances from both teams we could be looking at one of the best games of the year. Wisconsin comes in at 17-3, and despite only being ranked 11th right now, a win in this one, as well as continuing solid play down the stretch could have them looking at a one-seed by the time tournament time comes around. They’ve won four of their last five, with the lone slip upcoming in a tight one against Michigan State, and led by potential player of the year Johnny Davis, this is a Badger team that can compete against anyone.

Illinois comes into this one in a similar spot, as they sit at 15-5 on the season, but have the same conference record as Wisconsin, at 7-2. They’re also led by a player of the year candidate in Kofi Cockburn, which is going to allow us to see a great one-on-one matchup between two of the best players in the country. However, in the end, I like what Wisconsin offers in terms of a supporting cast a bit more, so give me the Badgers to get a huge win, in a close game, on the road in Champagne.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Wisconsin (+225)

#12 Villanova @ #24 Marquette – 10pm ET

This ranked Big East matchup is the second Big East game featured on the Wednesday night slate. As the 12th ranked Villanova Wildcats meet the 24th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles on the road in Wisconsin. Both teams will be looking for a huge resume building win and Villanova specifically will look to avoid being swept by Marquette.

Marko Nadin

The Marquette Golden Eagles are fourth in the Big East with a 15-7 record. They are 9-3 at home and 8-2 against the spread in the last 10 games. Marquette is a solid defensive team allowing only 40% from the field to their opponents and the last five of their games have finished under the total point margin. Marquette was on a seven-game winning streak before losing to Providence in the last round 65-63. The last time the Golden Eagles lost at home was in two overtimes against Creighton on New Year’s eve. Marquette defeated Villanova 57-54 earlier this month.

The Villanova Wildcats are on top of the Big East with a 16-5 record. They are 5-3 on the road and 9-1 against the spread in the last 10 games. Villanova ranks 17th in points allowed with 60.1 per game. Their opponents are shooting only 40% from the field and 30% from the three point line. Villanova is the best free throw shooting team in the league with 82.4% from the stripe. They have won 9 of the last 10 games with the only loss coming from Marquette.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Marquette +4 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The Villanova Wildcats are coming into this game ranked just outside the top ten in the nation at 12th in the country. They will be looking to add another ranked win to their resume with a victory in this one over the Golden Eagles of Marquette. The Wildcats come into this game with a record of 16-5 on the season. They are on a three game winning streak after racking up wins over Saint Johns, DePaul, and Georgetown. They have also won four of their last five games as their last loss was to this very same Marquette team at home in Philadelphia. They will be looking to avenge that loss in this one on the road.

The Marquette Golden Eagles come into this game with a record of 15-7 on the season. They are currently ranked 24th in the nation. They already have a win over Villanova as previously mentioned. Back on January 19th the Golden Eagles beat the Wildcats by a score of 57-54 at home. Now they will be looking to complete the sweep with another victory on Wednesday evening at home. Marquette is starting to look like a serious threat inside of the Big East, however, they did lose their last game to Providence on the road by a score of 65-63. As for the result of this game I think the roles from game one will be reversed as I have Villanova coming out on top in this one on the road.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Villanova (-182)

Noah Dunlap

This matchup gives us another solid Big East matchup, as we get two ranked squads going up against each other. Marquette comes into this one at 15-7, and have been one of the bigger surprises of the year to a lot of people. They’ve played extremely well as of late, as they had run off seven straight wins before dropping their last outing to Providence. Adding to that, they already have a win over this Villanova team this season.

As for Villanova, they come into this one playing extremely well too, as they’ve won four of their last five, including three straight. The one concern I do have over that stretch is the fact that none of those wins have come against particularly good competition, and the one loss is to this same Golden Eagles team. However, I think this Wildcat team is too good to get swept by Marquette in their season series, so give me Villanova to go on the road and get a bit of revenge against this Golden Eagles squad.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Villanova (-182)
