#19 Texas Tech @ #1 Baylor – 7pm ET

This is the first of multiple huge Big 12 matchups on the slate for Tuesday. As the 19th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders are set to take on the number one overall ranked Baylor Bears in Waco, Texas. The Red Raiders come into this game at 11-3 while Baylor is 15-0 on the season.

Denis Kirilov

Texas Tech will have their toughest challenge for this season on Tuesday as they will face the top-seeded Baylor. The Red Raiders have been doing pretty well during this campaign, winning 11 out of 14 matches. They have only lost to Providence, Gonzaga, and Iowa State. Their victory in the last match over Kansas supported their high ambitions for the year 2022. The team has great depth, using almost a dozen players on a regular basis. Kevin McCullar and Terrence Shannon Jr. lead the way for Texas Tech in terms of points, sharing a great % from the field.

Baylor, on the other side, is yet to find a team that will be better than them as they are currently perfect at 15-0. The Bears have dismantled the likes of Villanova and Michigan State. They barely defeated Iowa State by 5 points, but it was still enough in the end. James Akinjo is their biggest asset this season, while Jeremy Sochan and Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua are doing an impressive job in defense. The team averages a high % from the 3-point line which is mainly due to Jame Akinjo, LJ Cryer, and Kendall Brown. In my opinion, Baylor will come on top in the end as we will see an exciting game with plenty of points. I would recommend choosing the option for “over points” in this match.

Denis’ College Basketball Pick: Over 135.5 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming into this game off of a huge victory in their last game. They followed up a top 25 loss to Iowa State, with a big top 25 upset win over the Kansas Jayhawks at Kansas. Now they will be facing their third straight top 25 conference opponent on Tuesday when they travel to Waco, Texas to play the Baylor Bears. A win in this game would just add to an already impressive resume they have gathered this season. Texas Tech likely won’t win the Big 12 but they will be there when the At-Large field is announced for the 2021-22 NCAA tournament. They are coming into this game with a record of 11-3 and ranked 19th in the Nation.

The number 1 ranked Baylor Bears are putting together a dominating season off the back of their national championship last year. They look like they are going to end up going back to back as we approach the last couple of months of the 2021-22 season. Baylor comes into this game at an impressive 15-0 having won the majority of their games by double digits, as not only have they been beating teams they have been destroying them. As for the result of this game I expect more of the same as I have the Baylor Bears picking up the victory at home over the Red Raiders of Texas Tech.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor (-880)

Noah Dunlap

Baylor has continued their run from last year, in which they won the national championship, and now they’ve started this year 15-0 and are showing that they are the best team in the country as of this point. Even having played a tough schedule, they’ve run through with relative ease, and most of the games haven’t even been all that close. Now in this one, they get another tough test, as they host Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders come into this one at 11-3, including a huge win this weekend over Kansas. They don’t necessarily have the high-powered offense that one might expect, as they often stick to a more balanced, half-court look, but they still shoot the ball extremely efficiently, which is a key reason for their impressive start to the season. As for this matchup, I like Baylor to win, but I do think the Red Raiders manage to keep it relatively close for the vast majority of the game, allowing them to barely cover the 12.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Texas Tech +12 (-110)

#15 Iowa State @ #9 Kansas – 8pm ET

This is the second of multiple huge Big 12 matchups on the slate for Tuesday. As the 15th ranked Iowa State Cyclones are set to take on the number nine overall ranked Kansas Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse. The Cyclones come into this game at 13-2 while Kanas is 12-2 on the season.

Denis Kirilov

The Iowa State Cyclones have been one of the best-performing teams this season. They started with 12 straight wins before dropping a game against Baylor. Then, the Cyclones defeated a third-seeded team in the face of Texas Tech but came up short in their visit to Oklahoma. This sets their record at 13 wins and 2 losses as they have also defeated the teams of Xavier, Memphis, and Creighton. Izaiah Brockington has been doing miracles for the Cyclones on both ends, averaging 17 points and 8.1 rebounds so far. However, Tyrese Hunter and Gabe Kalscheur average less than 40% from the field as they will need to work on their finishing which will come in crucial at some point of the season.

The 9th-seeded, Kansas, is looking to get rid of the bad thoughts that have arisen since their loss to Texas Tech in their last match in the NCAA. The Jayhawks suffered their second defeat for the season as they were once upset by Dayton in November. Their first meeting with a seeded opponent didn’t go as planned since Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson didn’t get the much-needed help from their teammates. Christian Braun failed to deliver for Kansas, but he will look to make it up with a great performance against Iowa State. To me, the Jayhawks are slight favorites to win it and I will go with them in this matchup.

Denis’ College Basketball Pick: Kansas (-850)

Tony Battalio

Iowa State is coming into their game with a record of 13-2 on the season. They are currently ranked inside the top 25 at number 15. In their last game, however, they were upset by an unranked Oklahoma Sooners team on the road, by a score of 79-66. They will be looking to rebound in this one and pick up another resume-building top 25 win in the process. This season the Big 12 schedule is a grind every night, as every time out is a chance to pick up a top 25 or resume eye-catching victory as 9 of the 10 teams goes for At-Large bids into the NCAA tournament. This game is just the continuation of a rough schedule that includes Texas and Texas Tech as well soon.

The Kansas Jayhawks are coming off of an upset loss at home but have still managed to put together a great season. In their last game, they failed to beat Texas Tech at home, losing the game by a score of 75-67. The loss dropped their record to a still respectable 12-2 and they come into this game ranked at number 9, just inside the top 10 of the AP top 25. Despite the loss, they are still one of the likely favorites in the Big 12 that could potentially put 8 or more teams into the NCAA tournament this season. As for the result of this game I have them picking up the victory over the Iowa State Cyclones at home.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Kansas (-850)

Noah Dunlap

The Iowa State Cyclones have been one of the bigger surprises of the year so far, as they come in at 13-2, with a really good resume to date. With wins over Xavier, Memphis, and Creighton, and reasonable losses to Baylor and Oklahoma. Some people would like to pretend like the OU loss is a bad loss since the Sooners are unranked, but it’s still a solid team with a pretty good resume, so I think that loss for the Cyclones is excusable. With no bad losses and quite a few quality wins, this ISU team has to be considered one of the best teams in the country at this point in the year.

For Kansas, the perception surrounding them is that they’re one of the best teams in the nation, but I’m not sure anything, outside of their record, bears that out. They come in at 12-2, but they’ve only played one game against a ranked team so far this season, and it was in their last outing, in which they dropped a contest to Texas Tech. From a talent standpoint, they’re loaded, just like they seem to be every year, but I’ve seen nothing from them at this point to support them being considered one of the best teams we’ve seen this year. With the idea that the Jayhawks are favored by 12 in this one, my take is that they may win, but I think the Cyclones keep it close enough to feel confident with taking them to cover the spread.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Iowa State +12 (-110)

Oklahoma @ #21 Texas – 8:30pm ET

The Red River Rivalry takes place on the basketball court this time around. As the unranked Oklahoma Sooners travel to Austin to play the 21st ranked Texas Longhorns in this one. Oklahoma and Texas both come into this game with an identical record of 12-3. Both teams will be looking for a statement win in this one as well.

Denis Kirilov

Oklahoma and Texas are two teams that share the same record – 12-3. The Longhorns have a bad experience against an opponent from that part of the United States as they were defeated by Oklahoma State in their previous game, 64-51. This snapped their 6-game winning streak, thus raising some concerns for the management. Their performance this season has been far from what the fans wanted to see, but they remain in the top half of the table. However, Oklahoma will be one of the last unseeded teams they will have to play, before going on a 5-game streak against seeded opponents.

Oklahoma has done something amazing this campaign. The Sooners have outclassed the teams of Florida, Arkansas, and Iowa State; something that Texas hasn’t done. The Longhorns are still looking for their first victory over a seeded opponent. Oklahoma has also managed to put up a good fight against Baylor, who is undoubtedly the best team in the NCAA at the moment. Tanner Groves leads the way for the team with 14.3 points and 6 rebounds, while Umoja Gibson has been highly efficient from the free-throw line (95.1%), suggesting his ability to remain calm in the most nervous moments. I think that the Oklahoma Sooners will have a chance at winning the game against Texas, but I will still play it safe and choose their spread.

Denis’ College Basketball Pick: Oklahoma +6.5 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The Oklahoma Sooners are somehow still unranked as they come into this game with a record of 12-3 through their first 15 games this season. However, that would likely change with a big road victory in this one over their biggest rival. The Sooners are just another one of the many Big 12 teams that have put together a great season thus far. Oklahoma has won five of their last six games, with the only loss in that period coming to the number one overall ranked Baylor Bears. Now the Sooners will be looking to extend their winning streak to two games with another top 25 win in this one after beating Iowa State in their previous game.

The Texas Longhorns are coming into this game with an identical 12-3 record on the year. However, the difference between them and their rival is that the Longhorns are ranked inside of the top 25. Texas is currently ranked 21st in the country, a seven-spot drop from last week after they lost to Oklahoma State in their last game. Despite the loss Texas still has a positive 2-1 record in conference play after wins over Kansas State and West Virginia. As for the result of this game, I think they will add another victory at home, this time over their biggest rivals.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Texas -6.5 (-110)

Noah Dunlap

Both of these teams come in with the same record, but they’ve gotten there in two different ways. Despite being ranked 21st, the Texas Longhorns have achieved their 12-3 record without having defeated a single ranked team so far this year. The talent is there for this Texas team, but without a ranked win, and coming off a loss to Oklahoma State in their last outing, I’m not sure where the optimism would be for them to take down a good Oklahoma team, despite the fact that the Sooners somehow aren’t ranked.

Oklahoma comes in at 12-3 as well, but they do have big wins over Florida, Iowa State, and Arkansas, with losses to Utah State, Butler, and Baylor. Granted, two of those losses aren’t great by any means, but I do like their chances in this one. They’ve shown the potential at times to play up or down to their competition, which is what I think could happen in this one. Give me the Sooners to once again play well against a ranked opponent, at least well enough to cover the 6.5.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Oklahoma +6.5 (-110)

#4 Auburn @ #24 Alabama – 9pm ET

The college basketball version of the Iron Bowl is here and it’s going to be a good one. The Auburn Tigers come into this one ranked 4th in the country. It is the highest for an SEC team at the moment. Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide is ranked 24th in the nation. Auburn comes into this game at 14-1, while Alabama is 11-4 on the year.

Denis Kirilov

The Auburn Tigers are coming into this fixture on an 11-game winning streak. They have been quite merciless in this period as they have only given a chance to Saint Louis who kept a close distance until the end of the game, but didn’t manage to surprise the top 5 teams. Auburn holds a 14-1 record with the sole loss coming against UConn in their fourth match for the campaign. It was a tough meeting that ended 115-109 after double overtime. The Tigers have only met a seeded opponent once more in the face of LSU at the end of 2021 – a game won by Auburn, 70-55. Jabari Smith and KD Johnson have been putting up big numbers for their team, while Walker Kessler is their biggest asset in defense.

The situation within Alabama is a bit more difficult. They lost to Missouri in their last meeting in the NCAA, 92-86. On top of that, they struggle to close out games against weaker opponents this season, losing 4 games to unseeded teams. Their three meetings with rosters from the top 15 have been won by the Crimson Tide. They outsmarted Gonzaga, Houston, and Tennessee. This can only serve as proof of their huge potential and their immense focus when it comes to big-deal games. Jaden Shackelford and Keon Ellis have been doing a lot of work for Alabama and I think they will be able to pull something out of the bag against Auburn. For me, the Crimson Tide will take yet another victim for their collection.

Denis’ College Basketball Pick: Alabama (-122)

Tony Battalio

The Auburn Tigers are coming into this game with a record of 14-1 on the season. They are currently ranked inside the top 5 of the country at number 4 in the nation, which is the highest for an SEC team. Their lone loss of the season came to the Connecticut Huskies, all the way back at the end of November. Since that Auburn has won their last eleven games and hasn’t looked back as that streak is likely to continue deep into January. This game could always provide the opportunity for an upset however as it is a rivalry game against the Crimson Tide of Alabama.

fanduel sign up bonus

The previously mentioned Alabama Crimson Tide are coming into this game with a record of 11-4 through their first 15 games this year. They have put together a great year thus far but they are very vulnerable to upsets. As they have lost games to Iona, Memphis, and Davidson. They also have an SEC loss to the Missouri Tigers as well in their last game. They will look to rebound in this one, to pick up a huge top 25 win as they come into this one ranked inside the top 25 at 24th in the nation. However, as for the result of this game, I don’t see this happening as I have the Auburn Tigers picking up the victory on the road in the basketball version of this historic rivalry.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Auburn (+102)

Noah Dunlap

Auburn enters this one at 14-1, and have looked like one of the best teams in the country for much of the year. The one concern is that their schedule to this point has been relatively weak, with them having only played two ranked teams, and splitting those two, with a loss to UConn, but a win over LSU. The rest of the schedule has been weak, but to their credit, they’ve been taking care of business in a major way.

This Alabama team is one that’s hard to figure out, as they have three wins over top-15 teams, including huge wins over Gonzaga and Houston, but have multiple losses to teams that they have no business losing to, including Iona, Davidson, and Missouri. The Crimson Tide offense is extremely impressive, primarily due to their perimeter play, but the defense has a tendency to fall apart at times. However, given the fact that they seem to play better against ranked teams, I would look for that trend to continue, which is why I’m taking Alabama at home over their rivals.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Alabama -1.5 (-110)

#23 Providence @ Creighton – 9pm ET

This Big East Conference game has all the potential in the world to be the best game of the Tuesday slate. As the 23rd ranked Providence Friars travel to play the Creighton Blue Jays. Providence comes into the game with a 14-2 record, while the Blue Jays are coming into this one with a record of 10-4.

Denis Kirilov

Providence has suffered a tough 32-point loss to Marquette in their last away game in the NCAA. The team has impressed the whole College basketball community with the level of their game, resulting in a 14-2 record so far. The Friars got victories over the tough teams of UConn and Seton Hall in December. Nate Watson has been pulling off a fantastic performance on both ends for his team, while Al Durham, the second-highest scorer for Providence, will need to improve his accuracy as he sits at 36% from the field. The latter is also 25% from the 3-point line which doesn’t meet up the high standards of the team.

Creighton is coming into this game after a harsh 34-point loss against Villanova in Pennsylvania. The Bluejays hold a 10-4 record as they took a defeat against Colorado State, Iowa State, and Arizona State. The team, however, has found the right way past BYU and Villanova in December. Ryan Hawkins has been incredible this year, averaging 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds for Creighton, while Ryan Kalkbrenner puts up one of the highest percentages in the whole NCAA. The Bluejays’ center has 71% successful attempts from the field as his weakness continues to be his free-throw shots. I think that Creighton has everything they need to fight it off with Providence and why not come on top in the end. I would recommend picking them in this tight contest.

Denis’ College Basketball Pick: Creighton (-182)

Tony Battalio

The Providence Friars are coming into this game with a record of 14-2 as they seem to be the leading team in a tough Big East Conference this season. They are currently ranked at number 23 in the country. They already have a few eye-opening resume-worthy victories. As they have beaten Texas Tech, Wisconsin, and Seton Hall. Despite all the success this season they are seemingly being disrespected by pollsters as they are barely cracking the top 25. They are currently on a one-game winning streak after picking up a victory over St. Johns at home in their last game.

The Creighton Blue Jays come into this game with a record of 10-4 on the season. They will be looking to add another top 25 victory to their resume as they already have a few this season. As they hold victories over BYU and Villanova. They are currently on a one-game losing streak after being blown out by the Villanova Wildcats in their return game after beating the Wildcats at home. As for the result of this game, however, I have them losing this one as well. As I have the Providence Friars picking up the victory over Creighton in this one on the road.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Providence (+150)

Noah Dunlap

Providence is another team that has an extremely impressive resume so far on the year, with wins over Wisconsin, Texas Tech, and Seton Hall already. They do have an ugly loss to Marquette in their last outing, which makes me slightly curious as to how they respond to such an ugly beatdown. With their strength of schedule, and the huge wins already, I do think they manage to respond in decent fashion here.

For Creighton, they come in at 10-4, and they’re a team that’s pretty hard to figure out. The Blue Jays have a win over Villanova, as well as a victory over BYU, but they also have losses to Arizona State, Colorado State, and that same Villanova team. In this one, I think the safe bet would have to be to take Providence, as they’ve shown the ability to pick up wins over really good teams this year, with relatively few slip ups.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Providence (+150)
