#18 Marquette @ #24 UConn – 6:30pm ET

The first of two featured Big East matchups of the Tuesday slate is going to be an interesting one. As the 18th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles travel to Connecticut to play the 24th ranked UConn Huskies. Both teams will be looking for a resume building win in this one.

Marko Nadin

The UConn Huskies are ranked 24th in the nation. Currently, they are fourth in the Big East with a 15-6 record including 9-2 at home. After winning five in a row, the Huskies have lost the last two, 59-55 to Creighton at home and 85-74 against Villanova on the road. UConn is the ninth-best team in the nation in rebounding with 37.9 per game. They are ranked 22nd in allowed field goal percentage with 39.4%. Forward Akok Akok is questionable for the game against Marquette. UConn has covered the spread in the last four games coming in as favorites and has won the last three games against Marquette.

The Marquette Golden Eagles are ranked 18th in the nation. They are third in the Big East with a 16-7 record and are 4-3 on the road covering the spread in six of those seven games. Marquette was on a seven-game winning streak before losing to Providence. They bounced back in their last game winning 83-73 over Villanova. The Golden Eagles are a good defensive team allowing only 40% from the field and 30% from the three-point line. Marquette is 9-0 against the spread in their last nine games.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Marquette +6.5 (-102)

Tony Battalio

The Marquette Golden Eagles come into this game with a record of 16-7 on the season. They have beaten ranked Big East teams left and right. As they have already put together a decent resume for the tournament committee. They have won four of their last five games including two of them over a tough Villanova team. Their lone loss in their last five contests was an away game against the Providence Friars, who they have already beaten this season at home. Marquette will be looking to even the season series with UConn in this one.

The UConn Huskies will be looking to complete the sweep over the Golden Eagles and improve their tournament resume at the same time with a win in this game. UConn comes into this game with a record of 15-6 on the season. However, the Huskies are currently on a two game losing streak after back to back losses to Xavier and Creighton. While they have put together a good season so far they are still a few more marquee wins from locking their place in the tournament in my opinion. As for the result of this game I have Marquette evening up the season series with UConn with a huge road win.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Marquette (+230)

Noah Dunlap

Our first matchup of the night comes in the form of a Big East matchup that features two teams that have surprised most people this year. Marquette comes into this one ranked 18th in the country, at 16-7 on the year. They’ve won four of five, and the only loss during that stretch was a loss to the best team in the conference, the Providence Friars. Now they take on a UConn team that finds themselves in a similar spot, as they were on a five game winning streak, before dropping their last two.

They have already knocked off Marquette once this year, and they now go for the season sweep in this one. The one concern I have for this Huskies team though is the left that I think they lack that truly resume boosting win that they may need when it comes down to impressing the tournament committee come early March. As for this one, I like the Golden Eagles to even up the season series, as I think they’re playing just a bit better as of late.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Marquette (+230)

#14 Wisconsin @ #17 Michigan State – 7pm ET

This ranked Big Ten matchup could go a long way in punching one of these two teams’ NCAA Tournament berths. As the 14th ranked Wisconsin Badgers travel to East Lansing to play the 17th ranked Michigan State Spartans. This is likely to be one of the best games of the night.

Marko Nadin

The 17th ranked Michigan State Spartans are fourth in the Big Ten Conference with a 17-5 record. They went undefeated in December but have lost three of the last seven games since. The Spartans are coming off an 84-63 loss to Rutgers in their worst game of the season. Still, Michigan State is a great home team as they are 9-1 in East Lansing. The Spartans are the ninth-best team in the nation when it comes to three-point shooting with 39.3%. The Spartans have covered the spread in the last four games coming off a loss. They defeated Wisconsin 86-74 two weeks ago.

The Wisconsin Badgers are ranked 14th in the nation and currently are second in the Big Ten with an 18-4 record. After losing to Illinois 80-67, the Badgers bounced back in their last game winning 51-49 against Penn State. Wisconsin is not a good shooting team as they are only 41.8% from the field and 31.7% from the three-point line. The good thing for them is that they allow even worse percentages in both categories. The Badgers have covered the spread in the last four games against a team with a winning percentage.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Michigan State (-182)

Tony Battalio

The Wisconsin Badgers come into this game with a record of 18-4 on the season. They are currently ranked at number 14 in the nation. Their record of 9-3 inside of the Big Ten conference is good enough for second place as they are one game out of first with about a month or so left in the regular season. In their last game, they picked up a much needed win against the Nittany Lions of Penn State, as they rebounded nicely after falling to the Illinois Fighting Illini in the previous contest.

The Michigan State Spartans come into this game with a record of 17-5 on the season. They are currently ranked 17th in the nation. The Spartans are currently in fourth place in the Big Ten conference. They are on a one game losing streak after being upset by Rutgers in their last game. They will be looking to rebound in a big way with a top 25 win in this one at home. However, as for the result of this game, I do not see that happening as I have the Wisconsin Badgers picking up the victory in this game on the road in East Lansing on Tuesday evening.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Wisconsin (+150)

Noah Dunlap

This is one of two massive Big Ten matchups on Tuesday night, as we get a Wisconsin Badgers team that has shown the ability to be one of the best teams in the country when they’re playing well, taking on a Michigan State team that I think has played a bit better than many expected them to so far this season. Wisconsin sits at 18-4 on the year, with a few huge wins, and they now get the chance to pick up another one as they go on the road to East Lansing. With a guy in Johnny Davis, who despite falling a bit as of late, at one point was considered a candidate for player of the year, and can still put up big numbers when needed, I actually like their chances to get that done.

Michigan State enters at 17-5, and while they’re playing really good ball, I think they’re in a spot of needing to pick up a few more big time wins before I can seriously consider them to be a real contender in a loaded Big Ten conference. Coming off a loss to Rutgers in their last outing, I’m somewhat nervous about which Spartan team we get in this one, which is why I’m going to take Wisconsin on the road, picking up another big win, as they try to make a push for a one or two seed come tournament time.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Wisconsin (+150)

#15 Villanova @ St. Johns – 8:30pm ET

The 15th ranked Villanova Wildcats head to New York for this one. As they get set to take on the Red Storm of St. John’s. Both teams will be looking for a big conference win in this one as the Big East season starts to wind down.

Marko Nadin

The St. John’s Red Storm are seventh in the Big East with a 13-9 record including 10-4 at home. The Red Storm are coming off back-to-back road wins against Butler in Georgetown. Junior guard Julian Champaigne is having an amazing season averaging 18.9 points and 6.8 rebounds. St. John’s is ranked 22nd in the nation in points per game with 79.7. Guard Rafael Pinzon will not play against Villanova. The Red Storm has gone over the total points margin at home in the last five games against a team with a winning record on the road.

The Villanova Wildcats are ranked 15th in the nation and currently are second in the Big East with a 17-6 record. They have won four of the last five games losing to Marquette and defeating UConn 85-74 in the last one. Villanova is the best free-throw shooting team in the nation with 83.3%. They are also good from deep with 36.6%. Villanova has played over the total point margin in 5 of their last 6 road games. They have won the last three against St. John’s. Guard Justin Moore, who is averaging 15.1 points per game will be out of the lineup for the game against the Red Storm.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Villanova (-194)

Tony Battalio

The Villanova Wildcats are coming into this game ranked 15th in the nation. They are currently 17-6 on the season. Villanova has made a strong case for why they should make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team just in case they don’t win the Big East conference tournament at the end of the year. Villanova comes into this game on a one game winning streak after defeating the UConn Huskies in their last game at home. Now they will be looking to make it two wins in a row with a victory in this one over St. John’s.

The previously mentioned St. John’s Red Storm come into this game with a record of 13-9 on the season. They have a favorable home record of 10-4 on the year but it might be fair to say this is their toughest home game of the season. St.Johns comes into this game with a record of 5-6 in the Big East as they are towards the bottom half of the standings in the conference. They will be desperate for a victory in this one, as they are currently on a two game winning streak that they will be looking to extend with a huge top 25 victory. However, as for the result of this game, I don’t see it happening as I have Villanova picking up the win in this one.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Villanova (-194)

Noah Dunlap

St. Johns comes into this one at 13-9, but are only 5-6 in Big East play, as I think they took advantage of a slightly weak non-conference schedule, as a way to boost their record just a bit. They do enter this one having won two in a row, but seeing as those wins came over the likes of Georgetown and Butler, one atrocious team and another simply mediocre team, I’m not convinced they’re going to be ready to take on the team that is arguably the second best team in the conference, even with it coming at home.

Villanova enters this one as a bit of a mystery this year. They enter this one at 17-6 on the year, ranked 15th, but they’ve been tough to figure out. They have a few wins that are huge and show the kind of talent and potential they have, but they also have a couple of losses that show a team that is vulnerable to looking extremely shaky at times. With them taking out UConn in their last game, I think they keep that momentum going, at least for this one, as I like them to take care of business on the road, against a mediocre Red Storm squad.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Villanova (-194)

#13 Illinois @ #3 Purdue – 9pm ET

This top 15 Big Ten conference matchup is going to be the best game of the Tuesday slate. As the 13th ranked Illinois Fighting Illini travel to West Lafayette to take on the 3rd ranked Purdue Boilermakers. Both teams will be looking to grab a huge victory in this one.

Marko Nadin

The Purdue Boilermakers are ranked third in the nation and sit second in the Big 10 with a 20-3 record including 12-1 at home. After losing 68-65 to local rival Indiana, Purdue has won five straight games. They are coming off an 82-76 win over Michigan. The Boilermakers are fourth in the nation with 84.5 points per game and are ranked third with 50.8% shooting from the field and 41.1% from deep. They also allowed the least rebounds in the nation with 24.9. Purdue has covered the spread only once in their last seven home games against a team with a winning percentage over 60%. They defeated Illinois 96-88 in overtime in January.

The Illinois Fighting Illini are ranked 13th in the nation and are on top of the Big 10 with a 17-5 record. After losing in back-to-back games against Purdue and Maryland they won the last four, most recently 74-57 on the road against Indiana. Illinois is 13th in the nation with 37.3 rebounds per game and is in the top 50 with 77.1 points per game and 37% from the three-point line. They have covered the spread in the last four games facing a team with a winning percentage over 60%. The Fighting Illini have won three of the last four games against Purdue.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Purdue (-240)

Tony Battalio

The Illinois Fighting Illini come into this game with a record of 17-5 on the season. They are currently ranked just outside of the top in the country at 13th in the nation. Illinois is currently in first place of the Big Ten with a conference record of 10-2 on the year. They currently hold a one game lead over Wisconsin, and their opponents in this one, the Purdue Boilermakers. They are currently on a four game winning streak as well that they will be looking to extend in this game. They will be looking for a huge win in this one.

fanduel sign up bonus

The Purdue Boilermakers come into this game ranked inside the top 3 of the nation at number three. Purdue is currently 20-3 on the season. They are tied for second place in the Big Ten conference as they are a single game behind their opponents in this one, the Illinois Fighting Illini. Purdue is currently on a five game winning streak at the moment as well. In my opinion, they are one of the more serious national championship threats at this point in this season along with Gonzaga and Baylor. As for the result of this one I have them picking up the victory over Illinois in this one at home.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Purdue (-240)

Noah Dunlap

I like this one to be the matchup of the evening, as we get two top-15 teams going head-to-head. Illinois comes into this matchup at 17-5, but more importantly, they’ve been great in conference play, as they sit at 10-2 in the Big Ten. They’re being led by player of the year candidate Kofi Cockburn, but I have a few concerns about how much help he gets, especially against some of the league’s, and nation’s, best teams, which Purdue certainly is.

Purdue comes into this one at 20-3, and ranked third in the country. Even despite the better record though, they’re actually trailing their opponents in the conference standings, as they sit a game back of Illinois in the Big Ten. The question about that is whether you think that’s due to them being a touch bored and just ready to get to the tournament, or whether you think there are issues with this Boilermakers squad when they come across quality competition. In the end, I think the answer is that they’re just somewhat bored, but I think they manage to get up for a home matchup against the team leading the conference. Give me Purdue in a tight one, one that I could easily see going down to the wire, if not overtime.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Purdue (-240)

#12 UCLA @ Stanford – 11pm ET

This Pac-12 matchup has the potential to get ugly. As UCLA has already blown out Stanford earlier this season. Now the Stanford Cardinal will be looking to even up the season series against a struggling Bruins team, as both teams looking for a much needed conference win.

Marko Nadin

The Stanford Cardinal are seventh in the Pac 12 with a 14-8 record and are 10-2 at home. They have won three of the last five games and are coming off an 87-69 win over Washington. Stanford scores only 67.9 points per game which ranks them 271st in the nation but they allow only 65.7%. They are particularly bad from the free-throw line making only 66.5% of their attempts. They have played under the total point margin in the last four games facing a team with a winning percentage over 60%. Stanford has won two of the last three games against UCLA. Guard Noah Taitz will not suit up on Tuesday.

The UCLA Bruins are ranked 12th in the nation. They are second in the Pac 12 with a 16-4 record including 5-2 on the road. After a six-game winning streak, the Bruins have lost the last two to Arizona and Arizona State after three overtimes. UCLA scores 77.7 points per game while allowing 65.7. They have played under the point margin in the last six road games against a team with a winning percentage over 60%. UCLA defeated Stanford 65-43 ten days ago. Giard James Clark will not play against Stanford.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: UCLA (-320)

Tony Battalio

The UCLA Bruins will still be looking to rebound from their miserable road trip in the state of Arizona over the last two games. They will have to do it against a Stanford team that has already swept their rivals, the USC Trojans. UCLA comes into this game with a record of 16-4 on the season. Thankfully for the Bruins, the two straight losses shouldn’t affect them much as their place in the NCAA Tournament is likely already secured, as long as they don’t suffer some kind of crazy late season collapse.

The Stanford Cardinal come into this game with a record of 14-8 on the season. As previously mentioned they already have two huge resume bullet points after two huge wins over the USC Trojans. Stanford is currently on a one game winning streak after beating Washington in their last game. They will be looking to even the season series against UCLA after losing to them 66-43 back on January 29th. However, as for the result of this game, I have the UCLA Bruins picking up the win over the Stanford Cardinal in this one on the road on Tuesday evening

Tony’s College Basketball Pick:  UCLA (-320)

Noah Dunlap

This one shouldn’t be difficult. Stanford isn’t very good, despite coming into this one at 14-8, with two big wins over USC. I just think those are two somewhat fluky wins, especially seeing as in every other game they’ve played against quality competition they’ve simply been blown out in, including one at the hands of this same UCLA team. They’re a team that is in desperate need of a big win if they want to even have a slight chance at making the tournament, but I don’t think it’s coming in this one.

UCLA is going to be out for blood in this one. They’re one of the best teams in the country, despite only sitting at 16-4, as part of that is back-to-back losses that came as part of a disastrous road trip to the state of Arizona last week. That trip saw them drop a reasonably close one to the Arizona Wildcats, who, as a top-5 team, is certainly excusable. The problem came in their last game, as they dropped a triple-overtime contest to the then 6-13 Arizona State Sun Devils. Don’t expect them not to be frustrated and annoyed following the rough week, and with guys like Johnny Juzang and Jaime Jaquez Jr. leading the way, I think they absolutely destroy Stanford in this one, as this ends up being one where the Cardinal get stuck being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: UCLA (-320)
