#9 Duke @ Notre Dame – 7pm ET

The Duke Blue Devils will head north to meet the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in this one. Duke comes into this one ranked ninth in the country while the Irish remain unranked so far this season. This will be a huge game when it comes to the ACC standings.

Marko Nadin

After a bad start of the season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have won 10 of the last 11 games and currently are second in the ACC with a 14-6 record. They have a perfect 9-0 record at home and are 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 games. They shoot 37.9% from the three-point line which ranks them 22nd in the country. Notre Dame is coming off a 69-65 win over Virginia which certainly is a huge boost before the Blue Devils come to town. In their last match up, Notre Dame defeated Duke 93-89.

The Duke Blue Devils are on top of the ACC with a 17-3 record. Their last loss came ten days ago against Florida State. Duke ranks 10th in the country with 81.6 points per game and 11th in field goal percentage with 48.8. They are also a good three-point shooting team with 37.1% which ranks them 37th. Duke leads the all-time series against Notre Dame 27-8. Trevor Keels who averages 11.9 points per game will miss this game. Anyway, Duke is a much better team and will win this one covering the spread of -5.5.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Duke -5.5 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The Duke Blue Devils are getting hot at the right time. They come into this game with a record of 17-3 on the season. The Blue Devils seem to be on a mission this season to send coach K out on top with a national title. Duke has won their last three games after picking up wins over Syracuse, Clemson, and Louisville. Duke is currently ranked inside of the top ten of the nation at ninth in the country. Freshman Paolo Banchero is playing like one of the best players in the nation, and one of the top freshmen in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are coming into this game white hot as well. Led by their own superstar freshman and South Bend’s own, Blake Wesley. The Irish come into this game with a record of 14-6 on the season. The Fighting Irish are currently on a four game winning streak after beating Howard, Louisville, NC State, and Virginia. The Irish already beat North Carolina and Kentucky at home now they will be looking to add another blueblood to the mix. However as for the result of this game I don’t see it happening as I have the Duke Blue Devils picking up the win in this one.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Duke -5.5 (-110)

This is a matchup between arguably the two hottest teams in the ACC right now. Notre Dame struggled a lot to start the year, but opposite from most, who struggle when conference play starts, the Fighting Irish have seemingly been unstoppable in ACC play. They’re 7-2 in conference play, and 14-6 overall, but if there’s one issue, it’s the fact that they haven’t played all that well against quality opponents. They’ve got one win over a ranked team, a home victory over Kentucky, but other than that they’ve fallen flat in every other matchup against ranked opponents.

Duke comes into this one as one of the best teams in the country, and after a brief stretch, they’re beginning to show it. They come into this one at 17-3, but also 7-2 in conference, which is potentially somewhat concerning for a team of their caliber, but seeing as they’ve run off three straight, I think you have to like the chances of them having found their rhythm once again. With Paolo Banchero playing some of the best ball in the country, as a true freshman, this is a Duke team that I like to be able to make a pretty deep run come mid to late March, and that starts by winning the games they should win, including this one. Give me the Blue Devils on the road in South Bend to pick up a big win.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Duke -5.5 (-110)

West Virginia @ #4 Baylor – 9pm ET

This Big 12 clash has the potential to be a good one. It truly depends on which West Virginia shows up as they take on one of the top teams in the nation. The Mountaineers will be looking to break a five game losing streak, while Baylor will be looking to complete the sweep over Bobby Huggins and West Virginia.

Marko Nadin

The Baylor Bears started the season with 15 straight wins but have lost three of the last six games. Currently they are second in the Big 12 with an 18-3 record. They are coming off an unexpected 87-78 loss to Alabama in the last round. Baylor is 31st in the country with 78.7 points per game and 25th with 48.1% field goal shooting. Junior guard LJ Cryer, who is averaging 13.9 points per game, will miss this one. Baylor defeated West Virginia on the road 77-68 earlier this month and has won 5 of the last six against them

The West Virginia Mountaineers are 9th in the Big 12 with a 13-7 record. The last time they won was on January 12th against Oklahoma State and have lost the next five games since then. The Mountaineers are among the worst shooting teams in the country with 42.1% from the field, 280th, and 31% from the three-point line, which ranks them at 300. They have won only one game on the road the whole season and will stand no chances when they visit Baylor.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor -14 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The West Virginia Mountaineers are coming into this game with a record of 13-7 on the season. They are currently on a five game losing streak, one of those losses came to the very same Baylor team they will play in this game. They have played a tough stretch of teams during the course of this lengthy losing streak, so they should be battle tested by the time tournament time comes around later on this season. The last time these teams faced off Baylor came out on top by a score of 77-68 in Morgantown.

The Baylor Bears were the best team in the nation for a short period of time. Then they managed to lose back to back games and drop down to fourth. Now they come into this game with a record of 18-3 on the season after being upset by Alabama in their last game. The loss to the Crimson Tide snapped a three game winning streak for the Baylor Bears. Now Baylor will be looking to rebound in this one and complete the sweep over West Virginia this season. Despite the losses Baylor is still a serious threat to win back to back national championships this season. As for the result of this game I have the Bears beating West Virginia for the second time this season.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor -14 (-110)

About three weeks ago I would’ve told you this was a great matchup that everyone should be excited to see. However, watching the collapse of West Virginia, and watching Baylor slow down on their hot start to the year, as they have honestly just looked a little bored along the way, and some of the allure of this matchup has disappeared. West Virginia started the year 12-1, but have fallen to 13-7, as they’ve gone 2-5 in Big 12 play to this point, and picked up another loss this weekend, as they fell to Arkansas. The good news for this Mountaineer team is that none of the losses are to bad teams, but it does mean that they simply aren’t good enough to compete against the best teams in the conference, even playing the aggressive defense that we all know Bob Huggins loves to play.

Baylor comes into this one as the defending champions, and looked like the best team in the country once again for much of the year, before going on a bit of a skid, as they’ve lost three of their last six, including dropping a contest this weekend to Alabama. I don’t think this is a stretch to pay too much attention to, at least not yet, as I think they’re still arguably the best team in the country, and one that is going to find themselves in the Elite Eight or Final Four come late March. They’ve just looked a touch bored as of late, which while maybe you can say it shouldn’t happen, when you have the level of talent they do, sometimes that kind of thing happens. In this one, I like Baylor to wake up enough, especially with this one being at home in Waco, for them to take care of a free-falling West Virginia team with ease.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor -14 (-110)
