Northwestern @ #25 Iowa – 8pm ET

This Big Ten clash has a ton of potential and it could possibly result in an upset. As the Northwestern Wildcats will travel to Iowa City to play the 25th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes. Several seeding possibilities could be determined based on the outcome of this game.

Marko Nadin

The Iowa Hawkeyes are fifth in the Big Ten with a 20-8 record. They have won 6 of the last 7 games including the last three against Ohio State, Michigan State and Nebraska. They are a 10.5 favorite coming into the game against Northwestern which is pretty much expected as they have won 8 of the last 9 games against the Wildcats. Iowa won 96-73 against Northwestern in January this year. Iowa has won 18 of the last 28 games against teams with a losing road record. They have played over the total points margin in the last 6 Monday games.

The Northwestern Wildcats are 11th in the Big Ten with a 13-14 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 67-60 loss to Penn State. Northwestern scores 73.3 points per game and allows five points less. They have covered the spread in 3 of the last 4 games against teams with a winning record over 60% but have done so in only 2 of the last 7 games played on Monday. The Wildcats have played under the total points margin in 6 of the last 7 games and in 3 of the last 5 Monday games.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Iowa (-550)

Tony Battalio

The Northwestern Wildcats have already picked up a few big upsets this season. Now they will be looking to add another one when they go on the road to play the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Wildcats come into this game with a record of 13-14 on the year and will likely need to win the Big Ten conference tournament if they want a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They are currently on a one game losing streak after falling to the Nittany Lions of Penn State in Happy Valley in their game. They are currently in the bottom half of the Big Ten standings and will have to make a miraculous run in the tournament if they want to win it.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are coming into this game ranked 25th in the country after picking up a string of big wins. They have an overall record of 20-8 on the year and likely have already secured an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. They currently sit in fifth place in the Big Ten conference which should secure them at least one bye in the conference tournament. Iowa is currently on a three game winning streak at the moment and they will be looking to extend it in this game. As for the result of this contest I have Iowa getting the win at home.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Iowa (-550)

Noah Dunlap

As we enter the last week of the regular season, the Iowa Hawkeyes are picking things up at the right time. Despite only a 20-8 record, they’ve won six of their last seven, including two against probably tournament teams in Ohio State and Michigan State. Seeing as they’ve already knocked off this same Northwestern team by 23 earlier in the year, it seems likely that we could see a similar result in this one.

Those Wildcats of Northwestern come into this one as one of the worst teams in the Big Ten, with a 13-14 record, and losers of four of their last five. They have absolutely nothing to play for in this one, as the only way they could sneak into the tournament is by winning the Big Ten tournament next week, but even that has no bearing on this one at all. They don’t have any wins over real quality opponents on the year, and I don’t like their chances of traveling down to Iowa City and managing that in this one. Give me the Hawkeyes with ease.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Iowa (-550)

Kansas State @ #9 Texas Tech – 9pm ET

The Kansas State Wildcats travel to Lubbock to take on the 9th ranked Red Raiders in this Big 12 Conference matchup. Kansas State will be looking to spoil the Red Raiders hopes at a number one seed in the NCAA tournament.

Marko Nadin

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are third in the Big 12 and have two games left in the regular season against Kansas State and Oklahoma State. The Red Raiders were on a four-game winning streak but lost 69-66 in their last game to TCU. Texas Tech is among the top 15 defensive teams in the nation with 60.7 allowed points per game on 38.6% from the field and 26.7 allowed rebounds. Texas Tech has won 4 of the last 5 games against Kansas State. They have covered the spread in the last 7 games coming off a loss.

The Kansas State Wildcats are 7th in the Big 12 with a 14-14 record. They are coming off three straight losses against Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Iowa State. The Wildcats have won the first game this year against the Red Raiders 62-51. They have covered the spread in 9 of the last 11 road games against teams with a winning record over 60% and in 10 of the last 13 road games overall. Kansas State has played over the total points margin in the last 4 road games and in the last 5 games overall.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Under 133.5 (-110)

Tony Battalio

The Kansas State Wildcats come into this game with a record of 14-14 on the season. They have had an average season and will likely need to win the Big 12 Conference Tournament if they want to get into the NCAA tournament as they lack any big resume worthy victories. They are in the bottom half of the Big 12 standings as they have had it rough inside of conference play this season, which is reflected by their conference record of 6-10 on the year. 6-10 on the season. Kansas State is currently on a three game losing streak.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming into this game with a record of 22-7 on the season. They are a lock for the NCAA tournament but they will look to keep on winning so they can increase their chances of getting a number one seed. They come into this one ranked just outside of the top ten in the nation and will likely fall when the new rankings get released after losing on Saturday night. They are currently in third place in the Big 12 conference and that is likely where they will remain to finish the regular season. As for the result of this game I have the Red Raiders picking up the win.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Texas Tech (-880)

Noah Dunlap

This is another matchup that I could easily see getting ugly in a hurry. The Kansas State Wildcats come into this one as a team that’s in the middle of the Big-12, sitting at 14-14 record, but really don’t have much else to play for, seeing as they’re out of tournament contention, so I don’t know how much energy they’re going to bring to this matchup. And now it doesn’t get any easier for them as they take on a Texas Tech team that has surprised a lot of people along the way this year.

The Red Raiders are one of the best teams in the conference, sitting third, with a 22-7 record, despite dropping their last outing to TCU on Saturday. They’re ranked in the top-10 right now, but I’m still slightly nervous about their tournament chances, at least in terms of making a deep run, as I question whether their offense is going to be able to keep them up to the task once they get around to playing some of the nation’s best. The one good part of this Texas Tech squad is that the defense is elite, which is part of why they’ve had the success they have. As for this one, despite some of the offensive struggles, I think they find a way to roll, especially being at home in front of a raucous crowd in Lubbock.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Texas Tech (-880)

#10 Baylor @ #20 Texas – 9pm ET

The second featured Big 12 clash on Monday night features the 10th ranked Baylor Bears and the 20th ranked Texas Longhorns in Austin. Baylor is looking to snag a one seed in the big dance, while Texas will just be looking to qualify.

Marko Nadin

The Texas Longhorns are fourth in the Big 12 with a 21-8 record including 16-2 at home. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 82-81 road victory over West Virginia. Texas is playing one of the slowest paces in the nation but that will not help them against Baylor. Texas allows only 58.8 points per game on 41.6% from the field. Texas has covered the spread only once in the last 6 games following a win and have done that only twice in the last 7 home games.

The Baylor Bears are second in the Big 12 with a 24-5 record. They have won 5 of the last 6 games and will play Texas and Iowa State until the end of the regular season. The Bears are coming off an 80-70 win over Kansas. They have been dominating the Longhorns in recent years, winning 9 of the last 10 games. The Bears have covered the spread in 13 of the last 18 games following a win but have done so only once in their last 5 games. Anyway, they are a better team than Texas and will add another win.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor (-118)

Tony Battalio

The Baylor Bears came into the season as the defending national champions. Until around halfway through the season they looked like they were going to easily win another national championship this season and go back to back. Now they come into this game with a record of 24-5 on the season. They are currently in second place in the Big 12 conference with a record of 12-4 on the season as they are a half game behind the Kansas Jayhawks for first place. Baylor will be looking to build on the win over Kansas in their last game with another win in this one.

The Texas Longhorns are currently ranked 20th in the nation. They come into this game with a record of 21-8 on the year as they will be looking for a resume defining win in this game, that would almost certainly secure their place in the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team. That’s if they don’t win the Big 12 conference tournament in a few weeks, which they are very capable of doing. Texas is currently 10-6 inside of the Big 12 which has them in fourth place in the conference. As for the result of this game however, I have the Baylor Bears getting the win on the road.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor (-118)

Noah Dunlap

This is a matchup between two ranked squads, but I think one is much better than the other. The Texas Longhorns come in at fourth in the Big-12, but I question how serious they are in the grand scheme of things. They have a few good wins on the year, but most of their victories have come against teams that they were simply expected to beat, which makes me wonder whether they’re going to be able to pull off the upsets they’ll need to make a deep run.

The Baylor Bears come in to this one as the defending champs, and have been one of the best teams in the country for much of the year. They spent much of the first half of the year as the number one team in the nation, before running across slightly difficult times about midway through the conference slate. However, since then, they’ve looked more like the type of team we expected, including taking care of business against Kansas on Saturday in emphatic fashion, which makes me think they may be focused once again as we enter March. For this one, give me the Bears on the road, as I think they travel to Austin and get the win.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Baylor (-118)

#12 UCLA @ Washington – 11pm ET

In this huge Pac-12 Conference matchup the Bruins travel to the Pacific Northwest to play the Huskies. The Bruins are ranked 12th in the nation, while Washington is having a rough season and will be looking to play spoiler in this one.

Marko Nadin

The Washington Huskies are 14-12 this season which puts them 6th in the Pac 12. They were on a four-game losing streak before defeating Washington State 78-70. The Huskies are one of the worst shooting teams in the league shooting 40.7% from the field and 31.3% from behind the three-point line. Washington has covered the spread in 7 of the last 8 home games and in 10 of the last 14 games overall. The Huskies have played over the total points margin in 8 of the last 9 games.

The UCLA Bruins are third in the Pac 12 with a 21-6 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and bounced back in the last round with a 94-55 win over Oregon State after losing 68-63 to Oregon. The Bruins have won 8 of the last 9 games against Washington. Last week the Bruins beat the Huskies 76-50. UCLA has covered the spread in 4 of the last 5 games but has done so only twice in the last 7 road games against teams with a winning home record. The home team has covered the spread in 6 of the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: UCLA (-530)

Tony Battalio

The UCLA Bruins have had a weird season that had been interrupted several times by COVID-19 postponements and untimely upsets. Now they come into this game with a record of 21-6 on the year. They are currently ranked 12th in the country. While they are already locked into the NCAA tournament in my opinion, with a few more wins they could potentially snag a number one seed in the big dance if they win out. UCLA is currently on a one game winning streak and have won four of their last five games on the year. One of those wins over that stretch was a 26 point win over this same Washington team at home.

The previously mentioned Washington Huskies come into this game having a rough season thus far. As they have hovered around the .500 mark all season long and unless they win the Pac-12 conference tournament, they won’t be playing in the NCAA tournament this season. They already lost to UCLA just a few short weeks ago so they will be looking to even the season series in this contest on their own home court. However, as for the result of this game I can’t see that happening as I have UCLA getting the win in this one.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: UCLA (-530)

Noah Dunlap

Washington has been one of those mediocre teams that have slid under the radar for much of the season. They come in at 14-12, sitting at sixth in the Pac-12, and while they’re not a tournament team, I do think they showed real improvement, which should give Husky fans a bit of hope as we head into the offseason and into next year. The problem is that they’re going to have their hands full, as they take on one of the best teams in the conference in UCLA.

The Bruins enter at 21-6, and while they’ve been a bit inconsistent as of late, a lot of that I think is due to the fact that they’ve been without Johnny Juzang for a few games, I still think they are going to have to play better now that we’re getting closer to March. They did make a very real statement on Saturday, even though it was against one of the worst teams in the country in Oregon State, as they downed the Beavers by a 94-55 score. That makes me think they’re more focused now, which bodes well for this matchup. Give me the Bruins on the road in this one, as I think they take care of business with relative ease.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: UCLA (-530)
