Defense meets offense when the Duke Blue Devils (6-1) travel to face the Purdue Boilermakers (5-0) on Sunday.
Duke defeated the Xavier Musketeers 71-64 at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter on Friday, their fourth consecutive win. Jeremy Roach had a standout performance with 21 points.
Purdue won their fifth in a row in impressive fashion on Friday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, beating the Gonzaga Bulldogs 84-66. Zach Edey had 23 points and three blocks to lead the team.
The Blue Devils won the last meeting between the teams 70-57 at NRG Stadium in March 2010.
Kyle Filipowski is averaging 15.6 points per game to lead the Blue Devils in scoring this season. Filipowski also has grabbed 10.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Roach is dishing 3.9 assists.
Edey (21.8 ppg) has supplied much of the Boilermakers’ offense. Edey also has pulled down 12.0 rebounds per game, third-most in the country. Ethan Morton has distributed 5.0 assists per game.
The Boilermakers rank as the NCAA’s 23rd-best team in offensive efficiency, while the Blue Devils are 29th in defensive efficiency.
