The Villanova Wildcats (7-5, 1-0 Big East) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams when they travel to face the No. 2 UConn Huskies (13-0, 2-0 Big East) on Wednesday. Villanova beat the St. John’s Red Storm 78-63 at Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday, their fifth straight win.
Eric Dixon was a top performer with 18 points. UConn won their 13th in a row on December 20 at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion, beating the Georgetown Hoyas 84-73. Tristen Newton had 17 points and seven assists to lead the team. The Huskies dropped to fourth in the Big East Conference.
This marks the only meeting of the season between the teams. They last met in the Big East Conference Tourney semifinals when the Wildcats eliminated the Huskies with a 63-60 victory at Madison Square Garden on March 11.

Tyrese Martin had 19 points and seven rebounds in defeat.Dixon and Caleb Daniels, averaging 16.1 and 15.7 points per game, respectively, have led the Wildcats in scoring this season.
Dixon also has grabbed 6.1 rebounds per game, while Daniels has dished 3.5 assists per game. Adama Sanogo (18.6 ppg) has been the primary provider for the Huskies on offense. Sanogo also has averaged 7.2 rebounds per game.
Newton has doled out 4.5 assists per game. The Huskies rank as one of the most explosive offenses in the NCAA, 17th-best with 83.6 points per game.
