The No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1), one of the nation’s top scoring teams, play host to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits (3-4) on Saturday. South Dakota State was blown out by the James Madison Dukes 79-60 at Enmarket Arena on Saturday. Zeke Mayo was the scoring leader in the losing effort with 16 points.
William Kyle III chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds. Alabama won a close one on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, beating the North Carolina Tar Heels 103-101 in double overtime. Mark Sears topped the scoresheet with 24 points. With 14 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks, Charles Bediako also produced a strong performance.
It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Alabama came out on top in the only game between the teams last season 104-88 at Coleman Coliseum in November 2021. Jahvon Quinerly led the Crimson Tide with 26 points, while Keon Ellis contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds. Noah Freidel had 23 points in defeat.
Mayo and Kyle III, averaging 12.6 and 10.7 points per game, respectively, are leading the Jackrabbits in scoring this season. Mayo also has grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Alex Arians is dishing 3.6 assists per game.
Brandon Miller (19.6 ppg) has supplied much of the Crimson Tide’s offense. Miller also has posted 8.9 rebounds per game. Sears has tallied 3.6 assists per game. The Crimson Tide are averaging 84.3 points per game, ranking as one of the top scoring offenses in the NCAA (18th).
