March Madness Odds: Top 10 Favorites – #10 Florida State Seminoles
Sun 21st February 2021

With less than three weeks until Selection Sunday the regular season of college basketball is beginning to draw to a close. But have no fear, the best 68 NCAA men’s basketball teams are less than one month away from tipping off March Madness basketball in 2021.

Take a look at our previews of PointsBet’s top 10 favorites to win the 2021 NCAA Championship, starting with the Florida State Seminoles coming out of the ACC.

Florida State Seminoles:
Current Record: 13-3
Conference: ACC
NCAA Championship Odds: +2000

Season Summary

Following a 26-5 (16-4 ACC) 2019-20 season that saw Florida State win their second ACC championship in school history, the Seminoles looked poised for a deep 2020 March Madness run after finishing fourth in the final AP rankings.

However, with the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down the tournament in 2020, Florida State turned their attention to securing a top-50 recruiting class over the 2020 offseason.

The Seminoles were successful, adding five star recruit Scottie Barnes as well as Sardaar Calhoun and Quincy Ballard ahead of the 2020-21 college basketball season.

Currently with a 13-3 (9-2 ACC) record this season, Florida State may well be on their way to a second consecutive ACC championship, having recently recorded their best win of the season after defeating #7 Virginia by 21 points in a top of the table ACC matchup.

Although 10 of the Seminoles 13 wins this season have come by double digit margins, their two ACC losses have come by a similar deficit, losing to Clemson and Georgia Tech by 10 and 11 points respectively. However, Florida State have already avenged their loss to Clemson, defeating the Tigers 80-61 in their second encounter.

The Seminoles will close out the season with three of their last four games on the road, including a clash against the in-form Tarheels in North Carolina.

Florida State will be favored in each of their four final matchups and if they can run the board from here, the Seminoles should secure a top 4 seed for the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Betting Summary

Following the postponement of the 2020 March Madness tournament, the ACC champion Florida State Seminoles opened with odds of +1600 to win the 2021 NCAA championship.

After some minor preseason fluctuations, the Seminoles began their season on the 2nd of December tipping off the year with odds of +1500 to win their first NCAA title in 2021.

Despite winning their first four games, Florida State’s odds drifted to start the regular season before a pair double digit losses (vs UCF and Clemson) within a 10 day stretch saw Seminoles dropped out of the top 25 AP rankings, resulting in their odds drifting out to +2750.

A third loss for the season saw Florida State hit their longest odds since the market opened, as the Seminoles were given championship odds of +2767 after an 11 point loss to Georgia Tech.

However, since then Florida State have won three consecutive straight games, including their best win of the season, defeating #7 Virginia 81-60.

The Seminoles are now +2000 to win their first NCAA championship, with those odds expected to shorten further when their AP ranking improves from #16, as it is expected to in the coming days.
